Ireland won the toss and elected to bat. Sri Lankan openers Kusal Perera and Dilruwan Perera got the visitors off to a good start.

Dinesh Chandimal, who had resurrected Sri Lankan innings, finished with an unbeaten 100 to help the team to 303 for seven.

Barry McCarthy struck twice to dismiss both the openers and put the Sri Lankans on the backfoot.

There was a short rain interruption that forced the players off the field.

Upon resumption, Dasun Shanaka picked up a fifer on debut to help Sri Lanka to a 76-run win (D/L method).

Dasun Shanaka hit a quick-fire 42 before being bowled.

Ireland kept losing wickets at regular intervals in the chase.
