Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers, WBBL Final
Suzie Bates, Perth Scorchers captain, won the toss and elected to field
Anya Shrubsole struck early to dismiss Sydney Sixers opener Dane van Niekerk. She was the pick of the bowlers for Perth Scorchers as she returned with figures of 2 for 17 from her 4 overs
Even as the other batters were struggling early on, Alyssa Healy looked fluent. She top scored for her side with a 27-ball 40. Her innings included six boundaries.
Wickets fell in quick succession in the middle overs and the Sixers' innings began to stutter after a good start
Marizanne Kapp stroked a superb unbeaten 28-ball 34 to help Sydney Sixers post 124 for 5 in 20 overs
Perth Scorchers began strongly in the chase of 125, with openers Nicole Bolton and Elyse Villani putting on 38 runs in six overs. Sarah Aley provided the first breakthrough of the innings when she had Villani caught by Emily Leys
After the openers were dismissed, Katherine Brunt continued to lead Perth Scorchers' charge, but she kept running out of partners. She constructed a fine unbeaten 30-ball 35, but couldn't find enough support and momentum from the other end.
Katherine Brunt is dejected as she couldn't help her side get over the line. Perth Scorchers lost by seven runs.
While Sarah Aley was awarded the Man of the Match for her four-wicket haul, Alyssa Healy lifted the Women's Big Bash League trophy
