R Ashwin dismissed David Warner early in the day to give India a good start.

Things heated up in the middle as players put on a splendid show in the first session.

Steve Smith battled for 52 deliveries before he was dismissed for 8 at the brink of Lunch. Australia ended the first session on 87 for 2.

Matt Renshaw scored a gritty 60 to keep Australia on track in the second session.

Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Renshaw and Handscomb in the second session to reduce Australia to 163 for 5 at Tea.

Ishant Sharma toiled hard and dismissed Mitchell Marsh on the last ball before Tea.

Shaun Marsh (66 off 197) held one end up and ensured Australia take a handy lead.

Matthew Wade remained unbeaten on 25 and helped Australia end the second day on 237 for 6 with an overall lead of 48.
