After a brisk start, Samuel Badree got rid of Fakhar Zaman to give World XI the first breakthrough.
Babar Azam and Ahmed Shehzad scored 59 for the second wicket to get the innings going but the wicket meant the scoring rate came down considerably.
Azam scored 45 before he fell in the 17th over with the scorecard reading 135 for 3.
Shoaib Malik picked up 39 in the death overs to lift the side to 174 for 6.
