supernovas vs trailblazers, women's t20 challenge 2018
Supernovas vs Trailblazers, Women's T20 Challenge 2018
In a historic match that could be the watershed moment as far as the Women's IPL is concerned, Supernovas captain Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and opted to bowl.
Alyssa Healy started off with a boundary but fell to Megan Schutt early in the game.
Harmanpreet Kaur then pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss a belligerent Mandhana Smriti on 14.
Megan Schutt had Beth Mooney caught at mid-on off what seemed like a no-ball but the third umpire controversially ruled in the bowler's favour.
Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma scored 20-odd runs each to keep the middle order going.
No.3 batter Suzie Bates was the one who steered the innings, scoring 32 before falling to Ellyse Perry in the 19th over. Trailblazers scraped to 129 for 6 in 20 overs.
In response, Mithali Raj and Danielle Wyatt led Supernovas to a quick start, piling 50 runs inside the powerplay. Mithali 22(17) fell to Ekta Bisht towards the fag end of powerplay.
Poonam Yadav then got rid of Wyatt, who scored 24 off 20.
Harmanpreet Kaur, batting on 21, was dismissed by Bates in the 17th over. 3 wickets in 7 balls had fallen, and Supernovas found themselves stuttering in what should have been an easy chase.
Suzie Bates was the one who triggered the middle-order collapse with the wicket of Sophie Devine.
Ellyse Perry stayed unbeaten on 13 to guide Supernovas to a last-ball win over Trailblazers.
