Dale Steyn along with the tail chipped in with some handy runs to take South Africa's lead over 250 before they were bowled out for 431.

Asad Shafiq scored a half-century in quick-time, off just 56 balls, to rebuild for Pakistan with Shan Masood.

Shan Masood played sheet anchor in the 132-run third-wicket stand, only to fall on the brink of Tea for 61.

Vernon Philander thought he had Masood earlier, but a timely review from the batsman found the ball missing the stumps.

South African bowled out Pakistan for 294. They now need 41 runs to win and seal the series on Day 4.
