After Prithvi Shaw was dismissed for a duck on debut, Sanju Samson and Shikhar Dhawan scored 51 for the second wicket to get India going.
Dhawan made 46 and built India's innings with Suryakumar Yadav with a stand of 62.
Suryakumar Yadav scored a half-century but India were kept to a par score of 164 for 5.
