Virat Kohli: A T20 behemoth with a title in tow
Virat Kohli on debut against Zimbabwe in 2010, scoring an unbeaten 26 and guiding India past the finish line.
The years between his debut and 2014 saw Kohli flourish with the bat. Here he is, enroute to his POTM performance against South Africa in the second semi-final in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2014.
In 2016, Kohli scored an unbeaten 82 off 51 deliveries against Australia in a virtual quarter-final at Mohali. He celebrated by going down on his knees after letting out a roar of accomplishment.
Kohli could do no wrong in the 2016 T20 World Cup, scoring 273 runs and picking up the wicket of Johnson Charles in the semi-final at Mumbai. He is the only player to win the Player of the Tournament Award twice in two successive T20 World Cups.
One of India's biggest bilateral series victories was when India won the T20I series away in New Zealand 5-0 in 2020. The series included two super over wins as well for the Indian side.
A lean patch hit Kohli from the Test series defeat in New Zealand in 2020. This followed to the 2021 T20 World Cup, which saw India crash out in the group stage after defeats to Pakistan and New Zealand.
The lean patch finally came to an end in the Asia Cup of 2022 where Kohli scored his only T20I 100 against Afghanistan at the ring of fire in Dubai.
The iconic shot played by Virat Kohli against Haris Rauf during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 at the MCG which puzzled even bio-mechanism experts.
An emotional Virat Kohli after a memorable win against Pakistan at the MCG in the 2022 Men's T20 World Cup.
Having had a difficult T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli scored 76 off 59 balls and won the Player of the Match award in the Final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, against South Africa.
