Delhi Capitals storm into their first-ever IPL final!
Live Cricket Score - DC vs SRH, Qualifier 2, IPL 2020
Superbly done, DC! That's been a fantastic performance coming in under the pressure of having lost their last four games. They turned it around superbly with a fine batting show led by Marcus Stoinis and Shikhar Dhawan, and then by Shimron Hetmyer at the death. Then Rabada and Stoinis nipped the chase in the bud inside the PowerPlay. Though Kane Williamson looked to stamp his class all over another knockout chase, he fell trying to keep up with the asking rate after a fine knock. The young Abdul Samad came close to playing a blinder too, but was outdone by the might of Rabada. A tough night for SRH but kudos to DC to bring out their A-game after being humbled by Mumbai Indians in the first Qualifier.
Rabada's triple strike!
He's taken out Abdul Samad, Rashid Khan and Shreevats Goswami in an eight-run over to all but sink SRH's chances. Spare a thought for the young Samad who fought valiantly for a 16-ball 33.
42 off 18 down to 30 off 12!
Rashid has kept SRH on track still, hitting Ashwin for a six and four in a 12-run over.
Williamson is gone!
Oh that's a heart-wrenching dismissal if you're an SRH fan. Stoinis's reaction to that dismissal should tell you everything you need to know about what a big wicket that is. The Kiwi falls for a 45-ball 67. He was looking to play big, as was the requirement of the day, but ended up hitting a wide ball outside the offstump to Rabada at sweeper cover. DC can breathe a little easier now.
Williamson, Samad keep DC on their toes
When Samad walked out to bat, SRH needed 100 off 50 balls. That has been brought down to 51 off 24, with a fantastic, fiery stand here. The game is probably still DC's to lose considering Rabada and Nortje still have an over each to go but DC will surely feel the pressure too.
16-run over!
What a time for Abdul Samad to tee off! He saw through Anrich Nortje's change of pace and smashed him for a six and two fours in a 16-run over. The equation is now down to 61 off the last five overs.
Class from Kane Williamson!
Back-to-back half-centuries for the New Zealand skipper. SRH will hope it's coming in another winning cause. He's single-handedly kept the chase afloat here, getting his fifty this time off 35 balls. SRH 113 for 4 in 14 overs, need 77 off the last six overs.
Holder falls
The West Indian falls trying to get a move on as the asking rate has now climbed up to 12 an over. He danced down the track but Axar saw it and pulled the length back. Holder didn't change his plan and went through with a big swing, but hit straight to Praveen Dubey at deep midwicket.
DC looking to put a middle-overs choke
SRH's asking rate is climbing constantly as both Axar Patel and Pravin Dubey have started well. Boundaries aren't coming easily for Williamson and Holder at the moment.
SRH - 49 for 3 in 6 overs
SRH showed glimpses of taking the big target on but were tied down by Kagiso Rabada's first ball and Marcus Stoinis's double-wicket over. They've got 49 runs but the wickets column is already buldging and the chase is left to Kane Williamson and Jason Holder once again. When they had to do this job against RCB, the challenge was simpler as far as the runs required was concerned. Here, they need 141 off 84 balls.
SRH in tatters here...
Manish Pandey was looking good and intent on giving SRH a flying start in the PowerPlay, but Stoinis has taken him out in the same over. Pandey went hard while trying to clear the infield but hit it straight to Nortje at mid on.
Stoinis removes Garg
Just when it seemed like SRH were getting a move on, Marcus Stoinis breaches Priyam Garg's defence with a full delivery. Another S.O.S call has gone Kane Williamson's way then.
Rabada removes Warner
What a first ball from the South African. In the last few games, his effectiveness was called into question but he's hit back perfectly here. An inswinging yorker first up is too good even for a batsman of Warner's calibre. He ends up playing it onto the stumps. There's early swing on offer here and SRH are already neck deep in trouble.
12 off the first over:So Garg slog sweeps Ashwin for a six and shows what exactly he's been promoted to open the batting for. The challenge will be steeper against DC's quicks but this could yet prove to be a smart punt.
SRH have a punt of their own...
Priyam Garg walks out to bat with David Warner.
Delhi Capitals finish with 189/3
Top-class batting from DC - led wonderfully by Marcus Stoinis, Shikhar Dhawan and a Shimron Hetmyer cameo. On a day when SRH bowlers struggled and bled runs, it has to be said that Sandeep Sharma and Natarajan bowled two wonderful overs at the end as DC picked just 13 runs off the last 12 balls. Natarajan in particular repeatedly hit yorker lengths in the last over to give SRH some feeling of positivity heading into the break. The target is still a daunting one so over to David Warner now. Wonder if they will too make a punt of pushing up a hitter to give them a start in the PowerPlay. Could be a fascinating chase ahead.
Dhawan goes, but DC on track for 200
Dhawan has fallen for 78, trying to play a reverse sweep off a knee-high full toss from Sandeep. Dhawan thought he was plumb and walked off, but replays later showed that the impact of the ball hitting him on the pad was well outside the off-stump. The good thing is DC are still on course for a 200 total.
Rashid drops a sitter
How did that happen? Shikhar Dhawan targetted the fine leg fence against Sandeep Sharma but hit only as far as Rashid, who comes with the reputation of being a very good fielder. But he ended up dropping an absolute sitter here. Just one of those nights for SRH.
Shimron Hetmyer is turning it on at the death...
DC have been guilty of being too slow at the death but Hetmyer is now throwing his bat around. It has come in a game where SRH bowlers have endured an off-day. This is top-class from Delhi Capitals. They have put themselves on course for a 200 total.
Holder returns and strikes!
Shreyas Iyer never got going tonight. He had to force the play or risked sapping all the momentum set by the openers. He's hit a back-of-length ball bowled outside the offstump straight to Manish Pandey at mid-off.
Played, Shikhar!
He's scored a fine half-century and has now gone past his best tally in a season - 569 for Deccan Chargers in 2012.
