THE END - Clinical Australia become second WTC champions

Nathan Lyon wraps up the tail with the wickets of Bharat and Siraj as India are bowled out for 234. Australia win by 209 runs to become the second team after New Zealand to lift the WTC mace.

Thakur departs, India seven down

Lyon gets one to spin in from a length to rap Shardul on the pads. The onfield call is out and a review doesn't save the batter as he departs for 0, leaving India at 213/7.

Starc gets Rahane as Australia close in on WTC title

Rahane was looking quite good, playing some elegant drives off Starc. But trying to play away from his body at a wide delivery, the No.5 gets an edge through to the 'keeper to depart for 46. India are 212/6.

Second wicket in the same over for Boland

And excellent delivery coming from round the wicket, angled in and nipping away late, as Jadeja is forced to play at it and gets an edge through to the 'keeper to depart without scoring. Bharat is nearly undone in the same over, getting an edge but the ball travels over the slip cordon for a four.

Boland gets Kohli

Kohli plays and misses outside off to a Boland delivery, with Australia losing a review in the process. In the same over Kohli went hard at a slightly wide delivery, looking to drive, but gets an outside edge and is caught by Smith at second slip. He departs for 49, India are 179/4.

Steady start on Day 5

It has been steady going for the pair of Kohli and Rahane in the first few overs. There was a streaky boundary for Rahane when he got a bit of bat while trying to duck under a Cummins bouncer. But both batters have been untroubled otherwise.

Weather:It's sunny at the moment but according to the weather forecast, there is a 40 percent chance of rain later. Remember, there is also the option of the reserve day.

What happened on Day 4:

India were disciplined with the ball but Australia got to 270/8 before declaring, setting India a target of 444 with four and a half sessions remaining in the Test. India started well as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill dealt in regular boundaries but the latter was out to a splendid effort from Cameron Green, although the jury is still out whether the catch was taken cleanly or not. Rohit and Cheteshwar Pujata then put on a half-century stand to put India in a good position, one they squandered as both fell to poor shots. Virat Kohli came out and played some majestic shots and Ajinkya Rahane batted in a solid manner as they put on an unbeaten 71-run partnership to take India to 164/3 at Stumps. India need 280 more runs to pull off what will be a record chase while Australia are seven wickets away from the WTC title.
