Matt Henry returns to the New Zealand side for the three-match ODI series against West Indies. Henry had recently missed the last two ODIs against England previous week with a calf-strain and is currently undergoing a rehabilitation programme to prepare for the ODI and following three-match Test series.

Meanwhile, 32-year-old Blair Tickner who picked up back-to-back Player of the match awards against England in the second and third ODI retains his spot in the squad. Tickner had picked up eight wickets in two games at an average of 12.25. Before that series, Tickner hadn't featured for New Zealand in ODIs since 2023.

However, the injury list for New Zealand appears to be getting longer with Mohammad Abbas (ribs), Finn Allen (foot), Lockie Ferguson (hamstring), Adam Milne (ankle), Will O'Rourke (back), Glenn Phillips (groin), and Ben Sears (hamstring), all remaining unavailable due to injury. Kane Williamson wasn't considered for selection as he begins preparation for the Test series commencing on December 2.

New Zealand head coach Rob Walter welcomed the return of Matt Henry and also shared a good word on Tickner. "Matt is a vital member of this group and the senior leader of our pace attack, so it'll be great to have him back around the group for the ODIs and Tests," Walter said. "He will be fresh and fit after a good rest, and we know he'll be raring to go ahead of a big five weeks with the white and red ball.

"We couldn't have asked for more from Ticks against England," he said. "He brought plenty of energy and his pace and bounce proved to be a big test for some of the best batters in the world.

"It was pleasing to see him come in at short notice and perform at that level and that's a testament to the hard work he's been putting in away from the group."

New Zealand will look to extend their run of 10 straight ODI series wins following their 3-0 clean sweep of England. The ODI series will begin from November 16 in Christchurch with the next two to be played on November 19 and November 22 in Napier and Hamilton repectively.
