Led by Deandra Dottin's all-round effort (3-20 & 6-ball 13), Melbourne Renegades returned to winning ways with a comfortable four-wicket win over Melbourne Stars at the Junction Oval. Chasing 142 for victory, Renegades overhauled the target with seven balls to spare.
Put in to bat, Stars struggled to get going after losing Meg Lanning and Amy Jones cheaply. Annabel Sutherland controlled the innings through the middle overs while Marizanne Kapp provided the much-needed acceleration. However, Doittin's triple strike ensured Stars weren't able to build on that momentum. Kim Garth provided the late flourish with a breezy 19-ball 29, but Stars were limited to 141 for 7.
In response, despite losing Davina Perrin early in the second over, Renegades controlled the chase courtesy a 58-run stand between Courtney Webb and Sophie Molineux for the second wicket. Even as Stars bowlers returned to pick wickets at regular intervals, reducing Renegades to 121 for 6 by the 17th over, Tess Flintoff and Nichole Faltum ensured they could get over the line without any further stutter.
Brief Scores: Melbourne Stars 141/7 in 20 overs (Rhys McKenna 32, Kim Garth 29; Deandra Dottin 3-20, Georgia Wareham 1-18) lost to Melbourne Renegades 145/6 in 18.5 overs (Courtney Webb 37, Sophie Molineux 32; Kim Garth 2-16, Maisy Gibson 2-31) by 4 wickets
