India's players have been fined 10 percent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate during the second ODI against South Africa in Raipur held on December 3. South Africa pulled off an excellent chase of 359 in that game to then level the series 1-1 before India sealed the series win in Visakhapatnam.

India were found to be two overs short of their target once time allowances were taken into account. The sanction was imposed by Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees.

As per Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel - which deals with minimum over-rate offences - players are fined five percent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl within the stipulated time. India captain KL Rahul pled guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, meaning no formal hearing was required.

The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Rod Tucker and Rohan Pandit, along with third umpire Sam Nogajski and fourth umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal.
