Archer included in provisional 15-man T20 WC squad
Jofra Archer has been included in England's provisional squad for the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, with the selectors also naming Josh Tongue as part of their plans for the global event to be held in India and Sri Lanka in February-March. The announcement came alongside the naming of England's T20I and ODI squads for next month's white-ball tour of Sri Lanka.
While Archer features in the provisional World Cup squad, he will not travel to Sri Lanka as he continues his rehabilitation with the England medical team following a left side strain sustained during the third Ashes Test in Adelaide earlier this month. Tongue, meanwhile, has been rewarded with his maiden T20I call-up, having been selected in the squad for the Sri Lanka tour as well as the T20 World Cup squad. Carse features in the touring T20I squad but is not part of the provisional World Cup group.

Eight members of the 2024 squad have been retained, including new skipper Brook and former captain Jos Buttler. The others are Phil Salt, Ben Duckett, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Adil Rashid and Archer. Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Tom Hartley, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Reece Topley and Mark Wood are the ones missing from the 2024 list, while new inclusions include Rehan Ahmed, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Liam Dawson, Jamie Overton, Tongue and Luke Wood.
Crawley returns to the ODI setup
The ODI squad also sees the recall of Zak Crawley, back in the format for the first time since December 2023. All-rounder Will Jacks returns to both white-ball squads after missing the tour of New Zealand in October.

England's Sri Lanka tour will comprise three ODIs and three T20Is, which will serve as a preparation leading into the T20 World Cup. The ODIs will be played on January 22, 24 and 27 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
The action shifts to the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy for the T20Is, which will be played on January 30, February 1 and 3. The T20 World Cup begins on February 7 while England's first match is on February 8 against Nepal in Mumbai.
