West Indies are battling to try and save this game. After being bowled out for 148 in the first innings, the hosts would have thought that the match was in the balance when they had Australia at 126/6 yesterday.

However, debutant Adam Voges and the lower-order had other plans. Voges continued to bat solidly and was given good support by Johnson, Lyon and Hazlewood. With the tailenders doing well, Voges played his natural game and went on to register his maiden Test hundred, becoming the oldest debutant to hit a century. The last two wickets for Australia yielded a monumental 140 runs, helping them take a lead of 170.

West Indies slipped further when they Jerome Taylor on duck. Australia brought the pacers back into the attack after taking the second new ball and Mitchell Starc got his second wicket of the innings.

Taylor misread the inswinger and was late in bringing his bat down to defend. He was struck plumb in front. West Indies' lead in less than 50 and they have only two wickets in hand. Can Australia finish off this game today itself?

West Indies lost a wicket early in the day when Josh Hazlewood dismissed Darren Bravo on 5. It was a brilliant catch by David Warner at mid-off. The batsman drove in the air and did not bother to keep it down. Warner leapt in the air to his right and held onto the ball with both his hands.

Shane Dowrich survived a catch out scare on 7 off Nathan Lyon's bowling. The batsman was looking to force it off the back foot and ended up punching it to short extra cover, where Lyon claimed a low catch. The matter was referred to the third umpire. However, replays were not clear whether the catch was clean and Dowrich was given the benefit of the doubt.
