Bengaluru pitch rated 'below average' by ICC match referee

The pitch at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on which the second Test between India and Australia was played on has been rated 'Below Average' by ICC match referee Chris Broad.

Broad had earlier given a 'poor' rating for the Pune pitch on which the first Test was played in the same series. A 'below average' of the wicket will incur no penalties.

The pitch at Bengaluru offered prodigious turn and bounce on the opening day for Australian offspinner Nathan Lyon, who returned career-best figures of 8 for 50 in the first innings. As the game wore on, the bounce became progressively uneven with the match finishing a little after Tea on the fourth day.
