England Women vs Pakistan Women, 16th Match

ENGW
133/9(31)
PAKW
34/0(6.4)
The inevitable has happened. Pakistan were so near yet so far. The points have been split. They would be devastated having not got the chance to complete this game. The only portion of the game that went in favour of England was when the rains relanted and the game was reduced to 31 overs a side contest. England did add some quick runs. Pakistan though started very strongly in their reply of 113 (DLS) from 31 overs. They were 34 for no loss in 6.4 overs when the heavens opened up again and the match had to be called off. This is the third game that has been rained off. And all of them have been at Colombo. We will be back tomorrow with another game from the Women's WC. Take care!!!
Fatima Sana: Today was the day we could have beaten them but it was not in our hands. They are well aware of the conditions, we knew it was good for the pacers. We knew it was a good chance for us but it was not to be. I saw a lot of performances on this track, I knew it is good for the fast bowlers, I tried to bowl on a good lenght and target the stumps, but it would have been good if we had won. Muneeba and Omaima played really well. The conditons suited them, it was wet and that suits them. Last couple of matches we have done well in bowling and we have to improve our batting.
Nat Sciver-Brunt: I thought Pakistan bowled brilliantly, Fatima and Diana started really well, didn't allow us to get away. Then there was the rain break, Charlie and Arlott batted well to get us up to that total. We weren't very good, we weren't good enough, we put our hands up, Pakistan bowled brilliantly. (Things they could have done differently) Adapting quickly, it was seaming around and we should have planned better to nullify that. They did not allow us to get those partnerships. Everyone is practicing hard, going through their own processes and it is about putting it into the game. We are going to a different ground, off to Indore, we have to assess the conditions and work out what a good total is or how to pick up wickets.
21:46 Local Time, 16:16 GMT: The cut-off time is 10:14 PM Local. If it is a 20 overs game, the target would be 79, informs Nasser Hussain on air. The amount of rain that there is right now, highly unlikey we will be able to resume. Few of the English players are going back into the dressing room. The rain continues to come down. That has been the problem. Even removing the covers with the amount of rain that has accumulated would consume decent amount of time. The groundsmen are nowhere to be seen now.
21:32 Local Time, 16:02 GMT: The groundstaff are getting ready. The umpires have a look at each other. They call for the covers. The rain is pretty heavy. England players are still hanging around near the rope. Fatima Sana looks tensed. She would be hoping that the rain clears soon and Pakistan have a crack at creating history.
