PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Sri Lanka stumbled from 173/4 to 182/8 in the space of 3 overs, but their last 3 batters combined faced a total of 83 balls, scraping 20 crucial runs while at it. Just goes onto prove the value of every single run and every single ball faced in a high-pressure tournament like this. The tailenders could have easily thrown their bats at everything and no-one might have blamed them, but wasn't to be. When Prabodhani and Malki Madara - the two pacers - batted out there, it appeared like there was a stern message from the dressing room to bat out the entirety of the innings and not care about the scoreboard. Little things lead to ultimate rewards! Not a great brand of cricket from both teams, but in the end the team that held their nerve better won. And Bangladesh! Oh, spare a thought for them. They had their moments against England, South Africa, but couldn't capitalize. No doubt, today's loss will hurt the most and let's hope it only pushes them to become better. On that positive note, it's a goodbye from the team of Raju Peethala, Sagar Chawla and Venkatesh AV. Cheers!!
Chamari Athapaththu | Sri Lanka captain: We handled the pressure till the last over. Knew we had to keep fighting till the end. Did many mistakes as a batting unit, not our best game but we were lucky enough to win. We played four games in SL but unfortunately two games washed out. Too hard to predict the weather. As a professional team we can't blame those things. One more game left, we'll try our best to win and will be a miracle if we can make the semis. Hasini and myself had a good partnership, and then I got out. Have to learn from the Bangladesh team how they batted in the middle overs. We made so many mistakes as a batting unit. She's a senior player (Hasini). I know she's got her first fifty in her career but she's a good player. Hope she can play good cricket in the future as well. After every over I was talking to the team to keep it simple. I feel the senior bowlers bowled really well. After Joty got out I knew the game was going our way. I had two choices - myself or Udeshika. I spoke to her and she asked me to bowl. She said "you're in the mood, you bowl".
Nigar Sultana | Bangladesh captain: From the beginning I think it was our game. Me and Sharmin were batting well. Momentum shifted when she went off with cramp. We kept losing our wickets at crucial moments. We've been playing three games like this. Heartbreaking definitely. We kept losing wickets and couldn't hold our nerves. We can't take this pressure and we need to think about it. She (Shorna) just came in as a fifth or sixth bowler but how she's been bowling has been incredible. In a tournament like the World Cup, you need to grab those opportunities. We actually have a very good fielding side but somehow we dropped catches in crucial moments. It's a mental thing. Need to work on that. Have one more game and need to rectify those mistakes to finish on a good note. Earlier in the tournament we lost too many wickets in the powerplay. From then our plan has to not give many wickets in the powerplay. The thing is we had to finish in the second last over. I don't want to take the game in the last over. Was talking with my partner that we have to finish it in this over and to try for the boundary or give me the strike and I'll try.
Hasini Perera | Player of the Match: I just covered my off stump a little more today. Then I can hit the ball outside off well. It's a very important innings for me and my team as well. Very happy with the win. Our team did really well, especially the bowlers who bowled last few overs and the fielders. I just tried to hit a boundary there. I think I should've finished the innings. If that happened, we could've got another 30-40 runs.
22:25 local, 16:55 GMT, 22:25 IST: Nigar Sultana, in the dugout, is soaked in sorrow. She hasn't even taken the helmet off. A couple of the Bangladesh players are seen wiping tears as well. 12 needed off 12 with 6 wickets in hand and the nerves got the better of Bangladesh. A couple of wide ball calls didn't go Bangladesh's way and that clearly upset their skipper. She batted with a lot of calmness and smartness, but, in the final few overs, panic set in and that allowed a comeback route for Sri Lanka. There were lots of moments that could be argued till the cows come home, but in the end it is Sri Lanka who have snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. Despite losing 3 wickets inside 15 overs, Bangladesh had a strong partnership between Sharmin and Nigar, but the unfortunate injury forced the former to retire out in the 36th over and things started to get a little nervy as the required rate kept flirting with 6 RPO. And in the final 5 overs, it was a classic case of nerves getting the better of the batters. Stick around for the post-match reactions...

Chamari Athapaththu to Sharmin Akhter, no run, swing and a miss and that will be it. Heartbreak for Bangladesh as they become the first team to get knocked out in this World Cup. A 7-run win for Sri Lanka to keep their semifinal hopes alive....

Chamari Athapaththu to Marufa Akter, out Lbw!! Quick and spins into the stumps, Marufa gets across and fails to get bat on the flick. Looked adjacent and given out onfield. Was DRS unavailable? Looks like it. This is absolute madness from both teams. Marufa Akter lbw b Chamari Athapaththu 0(1)
Chamari Athapaththu to Marufa Akter, THATS OUT!! Lbw!!
Marufa given out lbw. She has decided to review it, but looks like we have a technological issue? Marufa has been asked to depart by the onfield umpires as the decision won't be reviewed. Unclear what happened there.

Chamari Athapaththu to Nigar Sultana, out Caught by Nilakshi de Silva!! Team hat-trick for Sri Lanka. Bowls it full outside off and Nigar slices the loft down the throat of long-off. Decent timing on that, but there wasn't enough power to get anywhere near the ropes. Nilakshi at it again. Nigar Sultana c Nilakshi de Silva b Chamari Athapaththu 77(98) [4s-6]

Chamari Athapaththu to Nahida Akter, out Nahida Akter Run Out!! Nahida knocks it to cover and rushes across to steal a quick single. Nilakshi picks the ball cleanly and smashes the stumps direct with an excellent throw. Nahida put in the dive, but it wasn't enough in the end. Caught just short of her crease. Nahida Akter run out (Nilakshi de Silva) 0(1)
Chamari Athapaththu to Nahida Akter, THATS OUT!! Run Out!!
Runout check sent upstairs. Looks like Nahida could be in trouble here. She is gone!
