PLAYER OF THE MATCH
That brings an end to our today's coverage of BBL 2025-26. We'll be back tomorrow with some more action. Goodbye and take care!
Matt Renshaw on a historic run chase: I still don’t really believe it. It’s a bit of a pinch-me moment, lots of goosebumps. An incredible effort. I think a lot of people probably wrote us off, and to be honest, we might have as well after losing a wicket first ball. But having Wildermuth at the other end was massive. I’ll definitely be sharing this with him, he deserves probably half of it, maybe more. That never-say-die attitude made all the difference. It was one of those strange ones (partnership) where we didn’t talk too much. It was more about taking the right options, seeing the ball and hitting it where you needed to. He’s done really well leading into this. Opening the batting has been a great opportunity for him, and he’s taken it brilliantly tonight. It was mainly about trusting yourself. I hit in the indoor nets during the break and honestly, I was hitting them terribly. But we had a bit of luck on our side tonight as well. It was just about keeping things simple. We knew the wicket was good after what they did with the bat, and that gives you confidence that a chase like this is possible. T20 cricket was always something people said I wasn’t very good at. So it’s nice to be able to produce something like this. I probably played a couple of bad shots in there, but I managed to middle a few and get the match-ups I wanted. It was pretty nice to bat on. There was a bit of tennis-ball bounce. That first ball Munro got looked like it exploded. Jhye (Richardson) is obviously a very good bowler, so I was a bit nervous walking out, thought I might get my shoulder ripped off, but it started to skid on nicely. We know how strong their attack is, but it was just one of those nights. It’s about taking this momentum with us. A few guys haven’t contributed much in the first couple of games, but in this competition you need your whole squad. With some players unsure about fitness, everyone’s going to be needed. I think the moustache has to stay now..
21:57 Local Time, 11:57 GMT, 17:27 IST: That was some extraordinary hitting from Renshaw and Wildermuth as Brisbane Heat have pulled off a spectacular run chase, I repeat. Cooper Connolly and Finn Allen set the tone with a 142-run partnership as the Perth Scorchers managed to post a mamoth total of 257, but Renshaw and Wildermuth have managed to eclipse that effort by the Scorchers batters. Brisbane Heat got off to the worst possible starts as Munro departed on the first ball of the run chase, but what unfolded next has defied all expectations. Renshaw and Wildermuth put on a breathtaking display at the Gabba by launching a fierce assault that swung the momentum Brisbane Heat’s way within the Powerplay. They took apart the Scorchers’ attack with fearless intent, peppering the boundary with fours and sixes as the bowlers quickly ran out of answers. Of course, both batters enjoyed a slice of fortune early on. Renshaw was reprieved after being caught off a no-ball, while Wildermuth survived a dropped chance by Turner. The Scorchers paid a heavy price as both of them made full use of those reprieves. Renshaw reached his hundred in the 15th over, with Wildermuth following suit in the 17th. Once Renshaw departed, Bryant kept the chase alive with a timely contribution as the chase went down to the wire. Ice-cool at the death, Wildermuth finished it off in the final over.

Yorker length ball outside off, Jack Wildermuth squeezes it through backward point and a fumble by the fielder stationed there results in the second run.
