PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Hobart Hurricanes' 9-match winning streak at home comes to an end but they are still second on the points table. Perth Scorchers aren't too far behind and have now registered two successive big wins. That's it for today. Tune in tomorrow for Brisbane Heat vs Melbourne Stars. Until then, goodbye...
Mitchell Marsh | Player of the Match: This ground has become a very hard ground to win at. So, really important win for us. Two on the bounce now, a bit of momentum to go home. So, great night. We've got a well-rounded team. Our more inexperienced bowlers have shown some real growth over this first couple of weeks. So, that's been awesome for us. And ,hopefully we can keep winning. I don't think we get an off-season, do we? I will say, though, I think Aaron Hardie was a bit stiff. He was 90 off 40 and 1-for, so, we'll give him that. Christmas period, it was lovely at home. First one at home in a while. So, that was very good with the family. And let's hope the Scorchers keep winning.
22:36 Local Time, 11:36 GMT, 17:06 IST: A convincing win for Perth Scorchers and they've ended Hobart Hurricanes' winning streak at the Bellerive Oval. This win was set up by Mitchell Marsh (102) and Aaron Hardie (94*) who powered the visitors to a mammoth score of 229. They went berserk in the second half of the innings. 38 runs off the Power Surge and they scored 149 runs off the last 10 overs. In reply, Hobart Hurricanes didn't get off to a flier as Mitchell Owen fell cheaply once again. After losing the openers in the powerplay, they lost Wright and McDermott in back-to-back overs. That's when an in-form Nikhil Chaudhary was joined by Wade. The two batters took the attack to the Scorchers' bowlers with a blazing 56-run stand. Just like their opponents, even the hosts scored 38 runs off the Power Surge. Cooper Connolly broke that stand by dismissing Chaudhary, Wade fell to Agar in the very next over and that extinguished HH's hopes as well.
