PLAYER OF THE MATCH
That's it for this game. We will be back with more soon. Till then take care, sleep well and be happy. See you.
Andries Gous | Player of the Match: It's nice to be keeping before that to know how we can play. And then when you kicked in, it was just nice to bat. (pitch) It was a bit slow up front. And then I just felt from over 6 you could see it start skidding on a little bit. So we knew that when we were batting, it was going to be pretty decent. (on the T10 tournament before this, did it help?) It was a nice finish for me at the back end of that tournament and it just gives you confidence going into this one. (keeping to Noor) It's hard. It's hard. Batters are finding it tough. Keepers are finding it tough. You never know which way it's going. But yeah, it's been a good challenge and it's something I enjoy. (on his start to the tournament) It gives you confidence going into the rest of the tournament. Obviously, there's some really good teams, so we've got to keep focused. But I mean, it's good to get that first 50 behind you.
Sam Curran | Vipers' captain: Yes, like I said to you before, they were one of the strongest teams last year. It was nice to start the tournament. I think we had five debuts today as well. A little bit scrappy towards the end, but two points is what matters. I thought we bowled really well. I thought the way the guys bowled in the powerplay, Nasim and Khuzaima bowled with high pace. Payne used his skill and then again, someone like Noor Ahmad in our bowling attack and then me and Payne to use our slowies and stuff in the middle. I thought they probably got maybe 20 many than we probably wanted, but I thought the wicket got a little bit better as well. (on the dew) Yes, I think it's a little bit different to when we last played. The dew seem to be playing a little bit more of a factor. I think it was the first game of the tournament, it did feel like that. There's a lot of stuff we can do better, but like I said, I think we're happy with the win. (on the openers) Yes, really good. Obviously great to have those two there. Obviously, Gousy played really well and showed his class. Like I said, we've got a powerful batting line-up. I think the first game is quite nervous. You don't know how it's going to go, but that will give the group a little bit of a lift. I think our next game is on Friday. (on his celebration after getting Gulbadin) We had too many battles last year. You just kind of laughed them off there, but I'm sure that battle will continue. It's all fun and games, but luckily that one stuck.
Dasun Shanaka | Capitals' captain: It's about setting the tone up front at the start of a tournament. With the ball, we were not up to the mark. I think 160-150 is the par score with the way it behaved in the first inning. Certainly, they bowled really well, but we couldn't be able to do it. Hopefully, we'll come with better plans next time. You need to give yourself a chance when you're batting and of course, holding the line and length. It's a norm of the game.
22:37 Local Time, 18:37 GMT, 00:07 IST: The Vipers should have won this much earlier and convincingly but they made hard work of this as they kept losing wickets. That allowed the Capitals to stay in the game till the 19th over. Gous at the top was in good nick as he belted the bowlers and along with Fakhar Zaman added 50 in quick time inside the powerplay. Nabi got Fakhar but Gous continued on. At the halfway stage, the Vipers were cruising but then wickets started to fall including two in one over from Salamkheil. Eventually Khuzaima Tanveer and Dan Lawrence were there to finish it off. Salamkheil was the pick of the bowlers as Shanaka used 7 bowlers in total. Stay tuned for the post-match stuff...

Scott Currie to Khuzaima Tanveer, FOUR, has Haider Ali saved the boundary at sweeper cover? No. His left boot is touching the cushions as he pushes it back. A slower-ball off-cutter on a good length outside off, Khuzaima Tanveer cuts well and places it behind backward point, Haider gets across and slides to pull it back, and it's a crucial four
Khuzaima Tanveer, right handed bat, comes to the crease
