PLAYER OF THE MATCH
That's all from this contest. We're not too far from the start of the evening match between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi. Do join us there. See you!
Shadab | Islamabad United captain: Was a complete game for us. The way everyone, especially in the bowling unit performed.. even our fielding was a standout effort. As a captain you try to create energy, especially in the absence of crowds. When you have proven players, you don't judge them by 2-3 innings. Never doubted his ability (Conway). He must've gained confidence the way he batted today on a difficult pitch. I didn't bowl that well today, compared to how well I've been bowling in the past six months. At the end of the day we go by results. If you look at the WC, the result wasn't great but I was happy with the areas I was bowling in. But in this game we go by the results. Want to dedicate this victory to Mir Hamza. The bravery he showed after getting hit by a ball (in training). We were uplifted by the smile he gave yesterday.
Shaheen | Lahore Qalandars captain: Credit to Islamabad United. They bowled in good areas, fielded well, Shadab took a brilliant catch. They used the wicket well. Our balance will improve once Fakhar is back. With Emon's injury the balance is off. Not sure how serious his injury is. Our batting order was unsettled because of the injury. But it's part of cricket. It's only the start of the tournament..
Green | Player of the Match: Yeah, it was really enjoyable. The conditions were suitable and I was backed up nicely, but I think it was a complete bowling performance by our team and possibly the complete chase as well. So, you know, I think it's really important. I call out Hamza. We had a pretty scary moment in training the other day, and from all of us, we dedicate this win to him. To be honest, I actually was pretty disappointed with the way I bowled in the first two games I played, and there was a moment of just reflecting in the mirror and had to tell myself to be better and just trust the way I bowl and fortunately it worked out. I'm glad it stuck (his catch). You know, catching up your own bowling sometimes it comes quick or fast and I'm being an off-spinner, I'm used to getting slogged back at me at a good pace, so I'm glad it stuck.
5.08pm local: Islamabad jump to the second spot and their NRR has taken a big jump as well. Crushing win over defending champions Lahore Qalandars today. On a two-paced pitch in Karachi, their spinners were outstanding in bundling out the opposition for just 100. Imad Wasim, Chris Green and captain Shadab Khan shared seven wickets between them after opting to bowl first. Made the most of the conditions on offer and completely strangled Qalandars. The target was then polished off in style by the pair of Conway and Faiq with the former notching up his maiden PSL fifty.
