SUMMARY

A right-arm off-break bowler, who was also capable of chipping in with the bat lower down the order, Johnnie Clay represented Glamorgan with distinction from 1921-1949. When in rhythm, Clay spun the ball appreciably in additon to generating good bounce. Overall, Clay collected 1317 first-class wickets at a superb average of 19.77.

Clay played a lone Test for England in 1935 at the Oval where the South African batsmen rendered him ineffective and wicket-less.
