Reg Perks was the pillar of the Worcestershire bowling unit from the 1930s to 1950s but his Test career was limited to just two matches. Perks enlisted his height to good effect and often generated bounce from a length aside from moving the ball both ways. As a batsman, his mantra was to hit out or get out.

Perks joined the Worcestershire groundstaff before building his bowling. He carried onto take 2000-plus wickets in a distinguised career that saw him aggregate 100 wickets in sixteen successive seasons. His county total of 2143 Worcestershire wickets still stands as a record.
