Born on April 01, 1954 at Shawlands, Barnsley, Yorkshire, Arnie Sidebottom played just a lone Test for England. His only Test came against Australia in Nottingham in July 1985. He took 1-65 before a foot injury forced him into the sidelines. He was perhaps more impressive in football, representing Manchester United, Huddersfield and Halifax. Test cricket deserted him when he toured South Africa with the rebel party in 1982.
However, he continued to play for Yorshire until retirement in 1991. His son, Ryan Sidebottom progressed to make 50-plus international appearances for England.
