SUMMARY

Decades ago, when a wicket-keeper was rated purely for his glovework with not much importance to his batting, Brian Taber excelled as fantastic man behind the stumps. He was extremely agile and had quick hands which made him a treat to watch while keeping wickets. His batting skills weren't great and that was proven by his outings in both domestic as well as international cricket. Despite this, he was almost always an automatic pick for New South Wales due to the sheer quality of his glovework. Taber's international career was brief though it did start with a bang. There wasn't any particular reason as to why he didn't play for Australia more except for the fact that he happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Constant defeats saw the team making wholesale changes and infusing young blood, which saw the likes of Taber having to make way. After his playing days, Taber indulged in coaching and was also part of the New South Wales selection committee.
