SUMMARY

Jackie Grant holds the prestigious record of being the first ever player to score two unbeaten fifties in the same Test match. These were among the few highlights in an otherwise underwhelming career that was quite short as well in tenure. Grant was known more his persona and leadership qualities which were on show when he led West Indies both against Test sides as well as First-class outfits. Always a smart tactician, Grant had strong man-management skills and knew how to extract the best out of his resources. Apart from being a cricketer, he also served as a teacher in a mission school in South Africa. He played a key role in popularizing the sport in apartheid-hit areas. Grant had two other brothers who played cricket, one of them named Rolph also captaining the Test side.
