INDIA VS SOUTH AFRICA - 1st Test
IND Inngs
Bumrah to Maharaj, out Lbw!! A massive appeal for LBW - umpire Rod Tucker thinks and raises the finger, no review available and South Africa fold out for 159. Five wickets for Bumrah and he's over the moon, gets a big round of applause, plenty of hugs from his team-mates - another searing inswinging yorker, was right at Maharaj's boots - he tried to get his left leg out and then jam it out, but the ball smashes into his toes, in front of middle and leg - was it doing too much? Would it be heading down leg? India don't care, Maharaj can't review and it's all over for South Africa in their first innings with the bat. Maharaj lbw b Bumrah 0(3)
Bumrah to Harmer, out Bowled!! Just too good for the Number 10 and Bumrah has his 4th wicket - on a good length and jagging back into the right-hander, Harmer was rooted to the crease as he looked to defend, the ball snuck under the bat and crashes into the off-stump. Just a wry smile as Bumrah gets things done in his own style. Harmer will consider himself a tad unlucky, the ball didn't bounce a lot, not that it could've probably saved him. Harmer b Bumrah 5(5) [4s-1]
Axar to Corbin Bosch, out Lbw!! Big appeal for lbw, umpire Chris Gaffaney takes his time and raises the finger. 92.5kph, Bosch gets slightly forward to defend and misses this non-turner to get hit on the front pad adjacent to the sticks as he's beaten on the inside edge. The fourth ball of this over spun away and that would have been in the back of the batter's mind. Corbin Bosch lbw b Axar 3(23)
Siraj to Marco Jansen, out Bowled!! Second wicket in the over from Siraj as this one goes through gate. 130.8kph, tailing in off a length, Jansen is half-forward to block and the ball sneaks through the bat-pad gap to hit the top of off-middle. Marco Jansen b Siraj 0(3)
Siraj to Verreynne, out Lbw!! 136kph, Verreynne has been adjudged lbw. He has a chat with Stubbs and reviews. Bat first or pad first? Nip-backer from Siraj from a good length. The bat is late to come down as it brushes the back pad. The batter was looking to angle it into the off-side. The impact is in front of the stumps. UltraEdge confirms pad first. Over to ball-tracking and that's crashing into the middle-stump. South Africa have now lost all their three reviews. Gill persisted with Siraj and the latter has struck. It's been a much better spell from Siraj. Verreynne lbw b Siraj 16(36) [4s-2]
Bumrah to de Zorzi, out Lbw!! This has stayed a little low and de Zorzi is given out LBW. Was a celebrappeal from Bumrah who knew it straightaway. He has reviewed it though. Good length ball that cuts in off the seam from round the wicket, stays a little low and de Zorzi is trapped right in the crease after being beaten on the inside edge. Impact is on off and the ball is crashing into middle. Third wicket for Bumrah who has been absolutely superb. de Zorzi lbw b Bumrah 24(55) [4s-1 6s-1]
Kuldeep Yadav to Mulder, out Lbw!! That's plumb in front as he misses the reverse-sweep. They get together for a chat and Mulder takes the review in the nick of time. Timer was about to run out there. Would've been better for South Africa if the timer had indeed run out because this is crashing into middle as per ball-tracking. Waste of a review. Over the wicket, turning in off a good length, he misses the reverse-sweep and is struck dead in front. There was no doubt about it the moment it hit the pad. Mulder lbw b Kuldeep Yadav 24(51) [4s-3]
Kuldeep Yadav to Bavuma, out Caught by Dhruv Jurel!! Inside edge and the man at backward short-leg grabs the chance with ease - was nicely tossed up and spun back into the right-hander - Bavuma was pressing forward in defence, the ball catches the inside edge and lobs into the hands of Jurel at that position - Kuldeep strikes early and India are slicing through South Africa's top-order. Bavuma c Dhruv Jurel b Kuldeep Yadav 3(11)
Bumrah to Markram, out Caught by Pant!! Jasprit Bumrah has removed both the South African openers. 137.7kph, extra bounce from a short of length. Markram doesn't expect that. The line is around the fifth stump zone and the right-hander wants to have a feel for it. Hits the shoulder of the bat and Pant dives to his right to pouch it safely. Two absolute beauties from Bumrah to pick the two wickets. Markram c Pant b Bumrah 31(48) [4s-5 6s-1]
Bumrah to Rickelton, out Bowled!! Timber! The crowd find their voice. That's a Bumrah special. A wicket against the run of play and India have the breakthrough. 140.7kph, good length ball from round the wicket and it moves ever so lightly off the deck to beat the outside edge of the batter. Rickelton was looking to defend and ended up playing down the wrong line. Rickelton b Bumrah 23(22) [4s-4]

Harmer to Axar, out Caught by Marco Jansen!! 91kph, extra bounce on this offbreak. Axar makes room to cut and isn't in control of the shot. Gets a fat top-edge and the ball lobs up towards backward point where Jansen gets low to snaffle it safely. Axar c Marco Jansen b Harmer 16(45) [4s-2]
Marco Jansen to Siraj, out Bowled!! Timber! Short of length ball from round the wicket, holds its line and beats the outside edge of Siraj who looks to defend from the crease. Hits the top of off and Jansen gets his 3rd wicket. Siraj b Marco Jansen 1(9)
Marco Jansen to Kuldeep Yadav, out Caught by Verreynne!! Kuldeep has been strangled down leg and India continue to lose wickets - short of a good length and angling down leg, Kuldeep was looking to flick and gets a tiny inside edge - Verreynne dives to his right and completes a fine catch. India's lead is only 13 runs and they're left with Axar and the tail. Kuldeep Yadav c Verreynne b Marco Jansen 1(8)
Harmer to Jadeja, out Lbw!! A massive appeal for LBW - umpire Rod Tucker thinks and then raises the finger - RJ has a chat and decides to review. Is it pad first? If so, this looked pretty OUT - was the slider and RJ was playing for the turn, it's indeed pad first and UltraEdge confirms the same - onto ball-tracking: RJ is already walking back after seeing the first replay, it does confirm three reds and it'll stay OUT. This is excellent bowling from Harmer, he slips in the arm-ball and RJ didn't see it coming, he was lunging forward in defence, but the bat was hidden behind the pad - impact in line and it's smashing into the middle-stump, simple call for the onfield umpire. Jadeja lbw b Harmer 27(45) [4s-3]
Harmer to Dhruv Jurel, out Caught&Bowled!! A chip back at the bowler and Jurel falls! The umpires confer to check if it's a fair catch - Harmer did look confident though and think Jurel was happy to go as well. Was tossed up around off and Jurel was looking to work it onto the on-side - but it drops in front of the right-hander, he's closed the face of the bat and the leading edge lobs back at the bowler, was dying onto him but Harmer dives forward, gets both hands under it and holds on to a good catch. Dhruv Jurel c and b Harmer 14(14) [4s-3]
Corbin Bosch to Pant, out Caught by Verreynne!! Balloons off the glove and it's a dolly for the keeper! South Africa fighting back as they now get rid of the dangerous Pant. Bashed into the pitch from round the wicket, it's a short of length delivery angling into the body, and Pant is cramped on the pull shot. Gets rapped on the glove and Verreynne isn't dropping that. Change of bowling works straightaway. Pant c Verreynne b Corbin Bosch 27(24) [4s-2 6s-2]
Maharaj to Rahul, out Caught by Markram!! Sharp low catch at slip and Maharaj roars in delight. Has been bowling from the end with less assistance this morning and hasn't caused too many problems. This one, though, turns sharply off a length on off. Rahul hangs back to defend but it catches the edge and goes quickly to slip. The ball was dying on Markram who did so well to snaffle it above the turf. Rahul wasn't sure if the catch was clean. He hung around and the umpires sent it upstairs to confirm. No problems with it whatsoever. Rahul c Markram b Maharaj 39(119) [4s-4 6s-1]
Harmer to Washington Sundar, out Caught by Markram!! Another ripper and this time the edge is found! Two magical deliveries from Harmer to start his spell today. Very little Washington could've done about them. Missed the first one, edges the second and just stands there looking puzzled. Round the wicket, lands on the perfect spot on a good length, Washington can't smother it on the front foot and the sharp turn ensures he's in no control. Takes the outside edge and carries nicely to slip. Washington Sundar c Markram b Harmer 29(82) [4s-2 6s-1]
Marco Jansen to Jaiswal, out Bowled!! There's the wicket Jansen was searching for - Eden Gardens goes silent as Jaiswal drags one back onto his leg-stump - nicely bowled by Jansen, dragged the length back and there wasn't a lot of room on the cut - the left-hander was looking to force it away off the back-foot, gets a thick inside edge and he ends up losing his leg-stump. A forlorn looking Jaiswal drags himself back to the pavilion. Jaiswal b Marco Jansen 12(27) [4s-3]
