SRI LANKA VS BANGLADESH - 1st Test
SL Inngs
Asitha Fernando to Nahid Rana, out Caught by Kusal Mendis!! Strangled down leg! 129kph, shortish ball down leg, Nahid Rana gets inside the line and awkwardly fends at it even though the ball is wide of his body. The bottom hand comes off the bat handle but the ball brushes the glove of the top hand. Kusal Mendis takes a sharp catch moving to his left. Nahid Rana c Kusal Mendis b Asitha Fernando 0(8)
Milan Rathnayake to Nayeem Hasan, out Caught by Kusal Mendis!! Third wicket for Milan Rathnayake! 123kph, nice line and length. Good length pitches marginally outside off and seams away, Nayeem Hasan pokes at it and gets a healthy outside edge. Kusal Mendis dives to his right to pouch it with both hands. Nayeem Hasan c Kusal Mendis b Milan Rathnayake 11(30) [4s-1]
Milan Rathnayake to Taijul Islam, out Bowled!! The missed chance doesn't cost Sri Lanka a lot - fuller length delivery from round the wicket, Taijul leant across and was playing for the angle, but this one held its line, might've wobbled a bit, the left-hander stumbled across on the flick, gets opened up and turns back to hear the death rattle. The ball clips the top of off-stump and Bangladesh lose their 8th wicket. Taijul Islam b Milan Rathnayake 6(7) [4s-1]
Milan Rathnayake to Jaker Ali, out Bowled!! That's an absolute corker and Rathnayake has some reward for his probing spell. Was the nip-backer, came back off the seam, drew Jaker forward and then found the tiny gap between bat and pad, enough for the ball to squeeze in and rattle into the off-stump. Rathnayake has his arms up in delight and Bangladesh lose their last recognised batter. Jaker Ali b Milan Rathnayake 8(16) [4s-1]
Tharindu Ratnayake to Litton Das, out Caught by Kusal Mendis!! Litton Das has been given OUT caught behind, he waits and then walks off as umpire Rod Tucker raises the finger. The leg-stump line working in favour of the hosts here, Litton tries something funky and has been dismissed in the nineties. Was tossed up well outside leg and the right-hander shaped for the reverse sweep, but he's undone by the bounce, the ball brushed the glove and popped up off the fore-arm, a simple catch to Kusal Mendis and that brings a fine innings to an end. Litton Das c Kusal Mendis b Tharindu Ratnayake 90(123) [4s-11 6s-1]
Asitha Fernando to Mushfiqur, out Lbw!! Mushfiqur has been adjudged lbw and Asitha is pumped up. The batter has a chat with his partner and sends it upstairs. After bowling a lot of outswingers and out-seamers, Asitha gets this full ball to shape back into the right-hander. Mushfiqur falls over as he misses the flick. It has to miss leg for Mushfiqur to survive. UltraEdge confirms no inside edge. Over to ball-tracking and it's umpire's call (clipping leg). The onfield call stays and the 149-run stand has been broken. End of a fine knock from Mushfiqur. Sri Lanka badly needed this wicket. Mushfiqur walks off to a standing ovation. Mushfiqur lbw b Asitha Fernando 163(350) [4s-9]
Asitha Fernando to Shanto, out Caught by Mathews!! Uppish and Mathews holds onto a blinder, relief for Asitha and relief for Sri Lanka as well. Was the slower ball, a floaty delivery outside off and Shanto was early into the drive. Tried to check his shot and spooned it towards mid-off, the ball was dropping in front of him, but Mathews timed his forward dive well, got both hands and held onto a skimmer. The partnership has been broken at 264, just short of what would have been a record 4th wicket stand. Shanto c Mathews b Asitha Fernando 148(279) [4s-15 6s-1]
Tharindu Ratnayake to Mominul, out Caught by Dhananjaya!! Edged and caught! Mominul doesn't get second time lucky. Excellent reflex catch from DDS at first slip, he was ready for this and it wasn't as quick as the first, he clings onto a beauty. Was tossed up slower and just outside off, Mominul went back on the cut and is cramped up for room, gets a thick edge to first slip's left, DDS was in a fine position, clutches the catch with both hands and then rolls over onto the ground. The 3rd umpire has a look and he's convinced that it's a clean catch. A start and nothing else for Mominul once again. Mominul c Dhananjaya b Tharindu Ratnayake 29(33) [4s-4]
Tharindu Ratnayake to Shadman Islam, out Caught by Dhananjaya!! Beautifully bowled and there's the maiden Test wicket for Tharindu Ratnayake Was nicely tossed up on off, drifts in and brings Shadman forward, he has to play the line, but the ball dips and then turns across the left-hander, catches the outside edge on the prod and goes low to DDS at slip, he dives forward, gets both hands under it and completes a safe catch. Shadman Islam c Dhananjaya b Tharindu Ratnayake 14(53) [4s-1]
Asitha Fernando to Anamul Haque, out Caught by Kusal Mendis!! Edged and gone! Anamul Haque departs for a 10-ball duck. Fuller than a length, hint of away curl outside off, Anamul presses forward and tentatively pushes at it. Audible outside edge and the Kusal Mendis - the keeper - moves to his right to pouch it safely with both hands. Sri Lanka get the early breakthrough. Anamul Haque c Kusal Mendis b Asitha Fernando 0(10)

Nayeem Hasan to Asitha Fernando, out Bowled!! Fifer for Nayeem Hasan! He gets down and kisses the turf. Looped up delivery outside off, Asitha Fernando goes for the premeditated reverse-sweep. There might have been a slight deflection and Asitha hears the death rattle. Sri Lanka bowled out for 485 in reply to Bangladesh's 495. Asitha Fernando b Nayeem Hasan 4(8) [4s-1]
Nayeem Hasan to Tharindu Ratnayake, out Bowled!! Gone! Nine down. Fourth wicket for Nayeem Hasan. It's the quicker and flatter one that slides on with the arm. Tharindu, stuck in his crease, is late on the flick. The ball beats the inside edge, brushes his pad and crashes into the off-stump. Sri Lanka still trail by 24 runs. Tharindu Ratnayake b Nayeem Hasan 0(7)
Nayeem Hasan to Kamindu Mendis, out Caught by Litton Das!! That's a classic offbreak! 77kph, flighted delivery that drifts in and drops as it lands around middle. The line forces the batter to play at it and Kamindu gets forward to defend. The ball, however, grips off the surface. Spins away with a bit of extra bounce, brushes the batter's glove before going into the keeper's mitts. Another sharp catch from Litton Das. Nayeem Hasan is cock-a-hoop. Needed something special to remove a well-set Kamindu. Kamindu Mendis c Litton Das b Nayeem Hasan 87(148) [4s-8 6s-1]
Hasan Mahmud to Milan Rathnayake, out Bowled!! Dragged on! 131kph, back of a length outside off, Milan Rathnayake shapes to pull it. Not a very safe shot considering the line and the left-hander ends up deflecting it onto the stumps via an inside edge. The ball didn't bounce as much as Milan expected as well. Third wicket for Hasan Mahmud who breaks the 84-run stand. Milan Rathnayake b Hasan Mahmud 39(83) [4s-3 6s-1]
Hasan Mahmud to Kusal Mendis, out Caught by Litton Das!! Third Sri Lankan batter caught down the leg-side! Excellent one-handed grab from Litton Das. It's an innocuous delivery form Hasan Mahmud. Fullish length and heading down leg, Kusal looks to flick it away and gets a thick inside edge. Litton Das dives full-length to his left and tries to catch it with both hands. The ball sticks in his left hand. Bangladesh are elated. Kusal Mendis c Litton Das b Hasan Mahmud 5(17) [4s-1]
Nayeem Hasan to Dhananjaya, out Caught by Litton Das!! Strangled down leg! Dhananjaya is walking. 81kph, flighted offbreak on a short of length, Dhananjaya is casual as he goes back in the crease to help it on its way. Sharp turn for the offie. The SL captain gets a faint inside edge and Litton Das takes a sharp catch moving to his left. Well, the replay shows that it's off the bat-face and not an inside edge. Bangladesh get the early wicket. Can they exert more pressure? Dhananjaya c Litton Das b Nayeem Hasan 19(36) [4s-2]
Hasan Mahmud to Nissanka, out Bowled!! The new-ball does it. Superb inswinger. Fuller and the seam wobbles as it comes out, Nissanka gets forward to push, leaves a little gap between bat and pad, beats the inside-edge and knocks back middle-stump. Nissanka can't believe it - he looks back to see the damaged furniture. Walks back to a standing ovation. Hasan Mahmud has the ability to move the ball both ways and he produces a fine delivery to dismiss the well-set Nissanka. Nissanka b Hasan Mahmud 187(256) [4s-23 6s-1]
Mominul to Mathews, out Caught by Litton Das!! It's Mominul who has done the job. He is a very under-rated spinner. This drifts into fourth-stump line, good length and it bounces more, rips away a tad as Mathews gets forward to defend, that rip takes the shoulder of the bat and a good catch from Litton Das. Clear deflection and umpire Rod Tucker had the finger up in a flash. Mathews too knew he had edged it, so went off. The move to throw Mominul the ball has worked. Mathews c Litton Das b Mominul 39(69) [4s-3 6s-1]
Nayeem Hasan to Chandimal, out Caught by Shadman Islam!! The leg-stump trap has worked, Chandimal ain't going, the fielder is confident that he's taken it cleanly, Shadman it is and the third umpire will have a look at this. Definite inside edge, has it carried to slip, yes, fingers under the ball and umpire Allahudien Paleker is happy to rule the decision in favour of Bangladesh. OUT is the call. That's a soft dismissal, tossed up and drifting onto the right-hander, Chandimal leant across on the nudge, the ball caught the inside edge and went straight and low into the hands of Shadman at leg slip. The dangerous partnership has been broken. Chandimal c Shadman Islam b Nayeem Hasan 54(119) [4s-4]
Taijul Islam to Lahiru Udara, out Caught&Bowled!! A leading edge and Udara's debut innings has been cut short. Was nicely tossed up and drifted back into the right-hander, Udara was looking to work it onto the on-side, but the ball dips, he closes the face of the bat and the leading edge pops right back at the bowler. Looked impressive during his short stay, but he'll be gutted at having thrown away a start. They've taken drinks at the fall of Lahiru Udara. Lahiru Udara c and b Taijul Islam 29(34) [4s-6]
