Australia may not have been many people's favourites to break their T20 World Cup duck in men's cricket. They slipped to series defeats in West Indies and Bangladesh in the build-up to the tournament where many of their big-name players sat out. But once at the World Cup, they worked themselves into rhythm steadily, and despite a heavy defeat to England, did enough to qualify out of a tough group. Then came the big semifinal against favourites Pakistan. Once they hurdled that, they put on their big-game boots once more against neighbours New Zealand, romping home to the title in Dubai. The Twitter world doffed their hats to the champions.
