Johann Layne has replaced fast bowler Shamar Joseph for the upcoming two-match Test series against India, Cricket West Indies announced in a social media post. Joseph has been ruled out of the series after suffering an undisclosed injury.

Layne, the 22-year-old who hails from Barbados, is an all-rounder and has played 19 first class games in his career so far. He has scored 495 runs in 32 innings with two fifties to his name but it is with the ball where his returns are exponential. He has picked up 66 wickets in his first class career at an average of 22.28 with four five-wicket hauls to his name already.
Joseph, on the other hand, will be revaluated ahead of the Bangladesh white-ball series which consists of three ODIs and three T20Is commencing from October 18.
The first Test between India and West Indies will commence in Ahmedabad from October 2.
