Australia fast bowler Kane Richardson has announced his retirement from professional cricket aged 34. He represented Australia in 25 ODIs and 36 T20Is, and was a member of the 2021 T20 World Cup-winning side.

Representing Northern Territory and South Australia at the domestic level, Richardson made his List-A debut in the 2008-09 season with his international debut coming in an ODI against Sri Lanka in 2013.

Richardson had an illustrious Big Bash League (BBL) career and is one of few players to have featured in every edition. He played six seasons with the Adelaide Strikers before moving to the Melbourne Renegades in 2017-18, representing them for eight seasons before signing a one-year deal with the Sydney Sixers ahead of the 2025-26 edition. He finishes as the competition's fifth highest wicket-taker with 142 wickets.

Richardson was also a globe-trotter, representing franchises across different tournaments, including the Indian Premier League (IPL).

"From making my debut back in 2009 until now, I feel like I have squeezed every drop out of myself and it is the right time to finish such an enjoyable part of my life," a statement from Richardson read.

"I've been fortunate enough to represent my country, along with many franchise teams around the world, and in Australia. I have never taken the opportunity lightly and I hope people watching knew that I had dreamt about being a cricketer since I was a kid in Darwin," it read further.
