Hello and welcome to the fourth day's play at the Gabba in Brisbane. The news is that Australia have declared their innings overnight at 264-4. So New Zealand will need to score 504 runs to win this one. Alternatively, they have two full days to bat out to save this. Australia's decision to declare overnight would have been influenced, to some extent, by the weather forecast in Brisbane. It rained yesterday and there is a 30% chance of showers for today and tomorrow.

So, how will NZ approach this? They have the time and the pitch to go for the chase but for that they'll first need a solid opening. This first session on Day 4 will be very crucial.
Here we go!
New Zealand's openers Tom Latham and Martin Guptill have been sedate thus far. Both Mitchell Johnson and Starc have had some swing but haven't been able to hit the channel as consistently as they would like.
Tom Latham is beaten by Mithchell Johnson but gets himself going with a couple of well-timed drives but Guptill is yet to get off the mark. The right-hander survives a close call with Joe Burns at FSL unable to hang on to a sharp chance. New Zealand just need to see off this opening burst. Runs will come.
Oh the pressure was on and the chance was created, but Nathan Lyon clangs this. Run-making has been a real struggle for Guptill this morning and he looks to cash in on a short and wide delivery from Johnson. However, he goes through with this shot half-heartedly and the ball flies towards Lyon at backward point, who is a little slow on the uptake and lets it slip through his hands. Big chance!
Mitchell Marsh is in to the attack while Starc replaces Johnson from the other! It has gotten very cloudy in Brisbane.
Tom Latham and Martin Guptill have done very well to survive this first hour on the fourth morning. The runs haven't been coming and that is largely due to some very accurate fast bowling by the Aussies. Mitchell Johnson has come closest to getting that elusive breakthrough but the Kiwi openers have just about survived. Guptill has not scored a run for nearly half-an-hour now. Latham has been a little more free flowing.
Steven Smith has rotated his three pacers around. Hazlewood's starting to hit that nagging channel outside off. The overcast conditions in Brisbane definitely adding to the drama. Very cagey!
