Great end to a phenomenal season

While India were set to end their marathon home season with a four-Test series against Australia, their opposition had been written off even before the young side, led by Steve Smith, made their way to the Indian shores back in February. Predictions of a 4-0 loss to Australia made the rounds like the Sun rising from the East and setting in the West. Experts and former cricketers joined the bandwagon to not just say that it would be tough for the Australians to pose a challenge to the mighty Indians, who are unbeatable at home, but counted them out without giving them a chance.

However, a month later, the tale to tell has been quite the surprise with the four-match series going India' way, but with a margin of 2-1. Not only did the Australians beat India convincingly in the first Test in Pune, but posed them with a challenge every game thereafter. It wasn't a cakewalk for India, like it had been in the previous series' against England or New Zealand. They had to earn every run, and every win. Ultimately, it came down to one session in Dharamsala where Australia had their typical batting collapse, akin to the one in the second innings in Bangalore, that turned the game on its head, leaving India 106 to win. India, on Tuesday (March 28) did it easy, with KL Rahul scoring his sixth fifty of the series as India wrapped up their home season in style.
