Hafeez and, then, Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan gave Pakistan a fighting total with their counter-attacking knocks towards the end. But Pakistan always had set a sub-par total of 246 to defend. They did well to pick up the key wickets of Munro and Williamson early but rain arrived and threatened to completely wash away the match. When the rain relented, New Zealand had a a revised target of 151 from 25 overs. They were already at 64 for 2 from 14. Knowing that the rain could comeback, and they were only another six overs from DLS coming into play, Guptill came back with a completely different approach. And then it rained sixes from his bat, washing away Pakistan's hopes of drawing level in a jiffy.
2-0: New Zealand win by eight wickets.Guptill operated in a completely different mode after play resumed and he's knocked off the target almost singlehandedly and with seven balls to spare. The hosts go 2-0 up in the series!
GUPTILL IN CRUISE MODE:Guptill's on a six-hitting spree! And the overs - 16, 17 and 18 - have produced 41 runs. The equation is down to a very, very manageable 42 off 42.
Okay then, Guptil and Taylor walk out to resume the chase. Shadab has the ball.
Essentially, New Zealand need 87 runs more to win from 11 overs with 8 wickets in hand.
18:30 Local Time: Play to resume at 18:40 local. Game reduced to 25 overs, revised DLS target - 151. 5 bowlers can bowl a maximum of five overs.

RECAP:Pakistan's nine-match unbeaten streak in the ODIs was brought to a sudden halt in Wellington, in the series opener, where Kane Williamson, supported by Munro, Guptill and Nicholls posted a challenging 315 total after being put in to bat. Pakistan, who take a lot of pride in their fearsome pace attack, were given a reality check as nearly all bowlers struggled in the windy conditions. Fakhar Zaman anchored Pakistan's reply but nearly all other batsmen flunked - Tim Southee and Trent Boult sharing five wickets between them. But then, rain arrived. Pakistan were way behind on the DLS and New Zealand, rightly so, took an early lead in the series. Pakistan though, would be keen to prove that their nine ODI wins on the trot were no fluke.
Welcome to our live blog for the second ODI of the five-match series between New Zealand and Pakistan, in Nelson.
