Munro 49*, New Zealand 1-0:
Munro narrowly missed out on his fourth successive fifty-plus score in T20Is as Ross Taylor struck three consecutive boundaries off Hasan Ali and with one required, the bowler bowled a wide to leave Munro stranded on 49 as New Zealand romped home to a seven-wicket win. Loud boos across the stadium when Hasan bowled a short ball which was too high and was called a wide.
Bruce falls but NZ on track:
While Bruce's innings came to an end when he tried to take on Shadab, Munro and Ross Taylor came up with a good stand to help New Zealand closer to the target.
Munro, Bruce keep NZ on track:
A couple of expensive overs have helped New Zealand back on course in the chase. Bruce goes after Shadab in the ninth over for a six and a four off successive deliveries while Munro manages two successive fours off Hasan Ali to help New Zealand to 56 for 2.
Munro survives:
The left-hander had a scare when he missed a reverse sweep off Shadab Khan and Pakistan opted for the DRS. But bounce came to the aid of the batsman as replays revealed that the ball would have travelled over the stumps.
Quiet powerplay:
Tom Bruce manages to score a couple of fours off Raees. But it has been a quiet powerplay otherwise as New Zealand move to 28 for 2. Meanwhile, Munro is struck on his thumb by a throw, although he is back up after some attention from the physio.
Raees strikes again:
Amir and Raees have done well to cramp the batsmen for room with short of length deliveries. This eventually led to downfall off Phillips as he tried to cut a Raees delivery that was too close and chopped it on. New Zealand are 8 for 2 in the fourth over.
Guptill falls early:
The two-paced nature of the pitch claimed another victim and this time, it was New Zealand's Martin Guptill who mistimed a pull off Rumman Raees to depart for 2.
Colin Munro's last three scores in T20Is are 53, 66 and 104. How much will he get today?
Prelude:
Hello and welcome to the Live Blog for the first T20I between New Zealand and Pakistan. It has been a prosperous summer for New Zealand as they ensured Windies were sent back home without a single win and then blanked Pakistan 5-0 in the ODIs. Despite their rotation policy, which will be implemented in this T20I series as well, New Zealand have seldom erred. Meanwhile, it was an end of Pakistan's unbeaten streak since the Champions Trophy and they also became the first team to be at the receiving end of a whitewash after inflicting one themselves in the series prior. With the T20I series, Pakistan will be hoping that the change in the format will also bring about a revival in their fortunes. While we await the toss, here's a detailed preview.
