Man of the Match goes to... Hafeez

Mohammad Hafeez | MoM (84 off 62 | 7-0-43-1): Everyone believed we can win the game. We were playing good cricket before but we weren't winning the crucial stages. Today, everyone really chipped in, and gave everything required in the situation. We were very confident. We practised well yesterday, had a good meeting, and we needed one winning performance to start us off. Bowlers did a great job defending the score. Batsmen did a great job setting a great total. The first game didn't go well, but we showed our capability today. I was trying to play my natural shots, and the first ball I came down and hit the boundary - so I thought why not take this approach straightaway? Whenever we come to UK, we have good support from the crowd. We know we have to play well because it's like a second home to us, and I'd like to thank the crowd for their support. We were playing well before, but we were not winning, and this win will definitely give us a lot of confidence. It will be a really happy dressing room and I hope it remains the same way.

Harsha Bhogle has the final say

completed. What a performance. Few weaknesses to be addressed and we are on track. Very well done boys.

Build Up:

Pakistan received a mauling in their opening encounter of the World Cup against West Indies - losing by seven wickets. However, the Asian nation is known to be unpredictable and could still spring a surprise in their next few games.

Unfortunately for Pakistan, it isn't going to get any easier as their next opponent is one of the fancied sides of the tournament, England. The formidable England side put up a thoroughly professional show to usurp South Africa by a margin of more than 100 runs at The Oval.

Can the mighty fine batting line-up containing Roy, Bairstow, Root, Buttler, Morgan and Co. fire? Or will Pakistan's batting rise to the occasion? The Pakistan camp would be hoping for the cornerstone of their batting unit, Babar Azam, to come good.

Pakistan will be again playing at Trent Bridge. The track is expected to be a belter and we could be in for a run-fest.
