Zimbabwe despite showing a lot of fight would be very gutted. Bennett and Curran showed lot of mental fortitude. They had a gameplan and succeeded more often than not. Williams did show some spark. But needed one big score here to bail his team out. His ill-timed dismissal in the first innings triggered the collapse on day 1. Ervine as a batter tried to get better but I guess the weight of captaining such an inexperienced side got to him. Sikandar Raza in such conditions would have been handy. Bangladesh were mostly all about Mehidy. Their one man army. Yes, Jaker Ali showed tremendous resolve in the first game. Shadman Islam also scored a vital ton here. But Bangladesh would want to do better in conditions which don't offer that much spin. Another important event happened as well. This was David Boon's last game as an international match referee. The Aussie legend was a distinguished cricketer and also did wonders as a match referee. He is bidding adieu to that. We will bid adieu to you people as well. Najmul Shanto | Bangladesh Captain - Brilliant performance, happy for the work we put ahead of the Test and that's what made me very happy. I don't think there was a lot of pressure, we didn't play good cricket and didn't execute our plans in Sylhet, but we've played here before and we knew we could do well. The openers were very impressive and I hope they continue to do well.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz | PoTM | PoTS - I'm feeling good, we lost the first Test and had to win here, the boys were excited to come back and win here. The credit goes to our bowlers, Taijul supported me, the pacers showed a lot of character and helped me add vital runs (towards the end). I've played for so many years, Mushy has played for 20 years, Mominul, Shanto and myself, we've plenty of seniors in the team, the guys have supported us and have shared their experience about playing conditions here.

Craig Ervine | Zimbabwe Captain - The first innings we knew that the wicket was good for batting, needed to put a lot of runs on the board. We did a lot of things right, but fell off in the last session, they then batted us out of the Test. Most certainly, guys are chuffed for him (on Vincent Masekesa), a bright talent, he has a great future, chuffed for him to take a 5-wicket haul on Test debut. The hard part of cricket is to get a start, the Bangladeshi spinners were extremely good and they kept the pressure on us all along. We will take a lot of learning (from this series), we'll get across to England (for a one-off Test), nice to get exposed to different conditions and then back home against South Africa and New Zealand. I enjoyed the tour, Sylhet and its hotel was fantastic. Some of us were here in 2006, a special moment to be back in Bangladesh and the guys certainly enjoyed it.

Series Summary - We could say 1-1 is a fair result at the end of the series. Zimbabwe enjoyed conditions to the hilt in Sylhet, but they were found wanting on a spinner friendly surface here in Chattogram. They did field an inexperienced unit with plenty of players not having much experience and this tour was a learning curve for them. They'll go back with some positives though - the openers showed grit and determination, Wessley Madhevere showed nerves of steel as he batted under pressure to help them win the first Test. Blessing Muzarabani was effective and a constant threat in Sylhet. Come Chattogram, they unearthed a new talent in Vincent Masekesa, the young spinner showing plenty of heart and resilience, finishing with a 5-wicket haul on Test debut. On the other hand, relief for Bangladesh, but they'll certainly be disappointed at not being able to secure a series win against a team ranked lower than them in the ICC rankings. They looked out of sorts and in unfamiliar territory in Sylhet and needed a helpful surface here to secure a face saving win, first at home since December 2023. Shadman Islam's 2nd Test hundred was a big tick considering the struggles they've had with their opening pair, Mehidy Hasan's all-round effort was certainly pleasing to see and their spinners came to the fore when conditions suited them. So, 1-1 is how this series ends and so does the summer of cricket in Bangladesh.

17:55 Local Time, 11:55 GMT, 17:25 IST: The extra time added to the clock has helped yield a result on day 3 itself. Day 3 was marred by rain a little. But Bangladesh were top notch. They came up with a terrific rearguard action thanks to Mehidy with the bat in the first session. Bangladesh added to the already hefty lead in the second session. Their essay ended with a lead of 217. And that was always going to be too much for the visitors. Taijul started spinning a web and Mehidy joined in. Ervine and Curran were going well and it seemed the game will go into day 4 but Ervine had a rush of blood and threw his wicket away. That just triggered a collapse and it didn't take long for Mehidy and co. to finish it off. Mehidy claimed his third fifer of the series and would be very tough to look beyond him for the Man of the series award. Zimbabwe would be gutted. They displayed such wonderful resolve on day 1 but it all went haywire in the final session. Post that Bangladesh have been very clinical.
