PLAYER OF THE SERIES
That's New Zealand's 11th ODI series win in a row at home, they've been indomitable in their own backyard. This series was a cleansweep too. The West Indies certainly had their moments in the first two games but like Shai Hope said, they weren't able to seize the key moments and that's what cost them. Today was a different story and it was a game to forget for the visitors. 162 was never going to be enough, yes the bowlers kept them in the game briefly but it would've needed something extraordinary to defend that score. There's a three-match Test series coming up after this. Also plenty of other cricket happening around the world so switch tabs and continue to enjoy the action. That's it from us for this game, this is Anurag Hegde, Sagar Chawla and V Harish signing off. Take care and goodbye.
Mitchell Santner | New Zealand Captain: You look at those first two games, they were close. T20s as well, to come out on the right side was pleasing. To win the crunch moments. The bowlers were great today. There's a lot of work, we've seen the flexibility of the bowlers, seen different guys performing at different stages and that's all you can ask for as a captain. You throw the ball to the guy and he does the job. Not often you pick six different seamers through a series and everyone does the job. The way Bracewell and Chapman showed that intent through the middle was fantastic, it was a lively wicket and they made it look flat. When you're chasing a total like that, one good partnership does it. It's been different guys on different days that's really pleasing.
Shai Hope | West Indies Captain: We just didn't click with the bat. We won the toss and elected to bat so we had to put the runs on the board. It's just about trying to be better every single day. This pitch was more similar to Caribbean conditions. Didn't get into that flow. Must give credit to the bowlers for the fight they showed. Great fight, still got to take positives from it but the batters let us down entire series. When you come to New Zealand, most teams don't find themselves in winning positions. We played good cricket, maybe if we had won the key moments the results would've been different, both in the T20Is and in the first two ODIs.
Kyle Jamieson | Player of the Series: Felt better than the last month or the summer, felt like I've built up to each game, recovering. Coming away with the series win is pleasing. Nice to play three ODIs in a week, nice to get some time in the legs and nice to get some time off now. Was a very competitive series, sure the Test series will be the same. We've all played different roles in different games in a way that's really helped us. We've adapted our plans to the roles that we've been given. We've communicated what's required on the day based on our skill-set. Great series all around for the bowling unit. Nice to be playing cricket, trying to stack those games up and build some consistency on the park. There's been a lot of work to get to this point and play back to back games and certainly play an entire series, that's very pleasing.
Matt Henry | Player of the Match: We've been playing some really good cricket. We've been doing some good stuff in key moments and that's got us over the lines. Everyone has been stepping up and that's been great. It was quite a slow surface, looked a bit different to usual. It's a small ground so you need to keep taking wickets to keep teams under pressure. Thankfully we were able to do that due to an all-round bowling performance. Looking forward to getting into the whites and the Test series.
19:51 Local Time, 06:51 GMT, 12:21 IST: Was a low target but wasn't the most straightforward chase for New Zealand. Well, not at least till Chapman and Bracewell got together at the crease. They shifted the momentum completely towards New Zealand with their 75-run stand that came off just 48 balls. Bracewell played some lovely shots and timed it sweetly from the moment he arrived at the crease. That bolstered Chapman too and the duo took the attack to the West Indies. Chasing just 162, that partnership was all they needed to seal a 4 wicket-win with nearly 20 overs to spare. The West Indies stayed in the game with early wickets. Both New Zealand openers fell inside the powerplay and Will Young just after. Latham looked good while he was at the crease but couldn't convert his start and that left New Zealand on 70/4. Bracewell quickly put all doubts to bed though and the West Indies simply had no answers once they were put under pressure.
