MI Cape Town vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape, 26th Match, SA20, 2025-26 - Live Cricket Score, Commentary

SEC
139/9(20)
MICT
140/7(19.2)
PLAYER OF THE MATCH
MICT never tried to go for the bonus point and had to toil hard for this win. SEC put up a good fight and took the match to the final over. The hosts prevailed to stay alive in the competition. The Sunrisers are still positioned second on the ladder but they haven't sealed the top-two spot yet. That's it for today. Tune in tomorrow for SA20's double-header. Until then, goodbye..
Corbin Bosch | Player of the Match - Definitely much better than I've gone in the competition thus far, happy to put a performance in when the team really needed it. We assessed the conditions quite early. KG came to me and said there's something in the wicket. Tried to hit the wicket nice and hard, let the wicket do the talking. Just happy I could put a performance there. It's the best we've bowled as a partnership this competition so far. Always knew eventually it's gonna happen, but it was nice to see how everyone was on the mark today and glad we could put a performance in like that when it really mattered. It'll be incredibly special for us (if we progress for the playoffs). The competition hasn't quite gone the way that we planned. If we have a little bit of a sniff, a lot of teams might fear us hopefully. So, good luck to Pretoria tomorrow.
Nicholas Pooran | MI Cape Town captain - This franchise is never really out of the tournament till the last game. Tonight, the guys really came out and answered the call. It didn't finish the way we wanted it to finish but that 4 points is really important for us. T20 is very contagious - winning and losing. We have been losing a lot of games, we just keep finding ourselves in situations, from good positions, we kind of mess it up. Tonight we were able to get over the line. It's been a tough season for us so far, we still have a chance in this tournament, so hopefully our best game is yet to come. Quality bowlers, it was just a matter of time before they came to the party. Boulty started off getting that wicket in the first over, KG came and bowled really quickly and then Boschy bowled really nicely there in the death but the spinners were really important for us. We had good conversations with them and they answered the call. They bowled wicket-to-wicket, blocked the singles and were excellent. The way Reeza went about it using his experience was excellent. (On Pollard) He's played this game more than every single person. He still loves what he's doing. He wasn't shy, he took the ball and bowled two overs. It was nice to see him bring that experience and other experienced guys doing their part as well. (On the final group stage match against SEC) We need a couple of results to go our way. Last game in the group stage for us and hopefully we could play our best game. You never know this game, the bowlers are bowling well, you just need one good innings from one of our batsmen. We're up for the challenge.
Tristan Stubbs | Sunrisers Eastern Cape Captain - We probably didn't adapt quickly with the bat, didn't assess the conditions, struggled hard and didn't get a good score, fought hard with the ball though. It's difficult to say, but as I said we didn't assess the conditions quick enough. We always talk about the value of one run, take each moment to pick, unfortunately it hasn't gone our way (on the no-ball). It's very important, the last home game of the year, it's a 3:30 pm game and it's a big motivation to win in front of our fans and claim a top-2 finish. I don't know the maths (on the equation needed to finish in the top-2), but it's all about focusing on each game ourselves.
21:10 Local Time, 19:10 GMT, 00:40 IST: Not a clinical chase from MI Cape Town but they'll take these 4 points. After losing their openers inside the powerplay, Hendricks and Pooran steadied the ship with a 33-run stand. The latter failed to make a notable contribution once again as he holed out against Muthusamy. Linde survived a couple of close shaves and then went 6, 4, 4 against Milne. The Kiwi pacer eventually dismissed Linde but the left-hander did his job by providing the much-needed impetus for his team with a 18-ball 31. With 15 needed off 19 deliveries, MICT should have won this comfortably. But they took the harder route. Pollard holed out to long-off, Smith fell for 1 and then Hendricks - who batted patiently - was caught at deep backward point in the penultimate over. With just 4 needed off the final over, they scraped home with 4 balls to spare. Earlier in the day, even the SEC batters struggled to get going on this two-paced deck. Marco Jansen - 42 off 23 - was the only batter who found batting easy. For MICT, Bosch picked four wickets and Boult was back to his best picking three wickets (one upfront and two at the death).
19.2
Muthusamy to Corbin Bosch, 1 run, tossed up ball, Bosch moves leg-side to swing across the line and drags it to midwicket. The batters scamper across for a quick single. No direct-hit and even the bowler failed to collect the ball cleanly. MI Cape Town stay alive in the competition with a nervy 3-wicket win
1 run | 5 balls. Free-hit for Corbin Bosch
19.2
Muthusamy to Rabada, no ball, 1 run, full outside off, Rabada leans across, bends his back leg and slap-drives to long-off. Oh dear, Muthusamy has overstepped. Deemed as a no-ball and the crowd find their voice
19.1
Muthusamy to Corbin Bosch, 1 run, fullish ball angling in, Bosch drives along the ground to long-on for a single
Senuran Muthusamy [3.0-0-21-2] is back into the attack
Kagiso Rabada, left handed bat, comes to the crease
Equation: 4 runs | 6 balls. Two new batters out in the middle. Can Muthusamy do something special? MICT will be under pressure as this is a must-win game for them.
