Rovman Powell, in his 100th T20I game, hit 3 sixes in the final over and that clearly stole all the momentum Bangladesh had until that point. West Indies were flirting around 6 RPO for most part of their innings, but they finished strong by scoring 31 off the last 8 balls. Unfortunately for the home side, they never quite recovered from that assault. Can they turn things around in the second game on Wednesday? Do join us for that one to find out. Until then, cheers and goodbye!!
Shai Hope | West Indies skipper: We assessed the conditions a bit better today. Wickets in hand gave us the impetus we needed today and Rovman was excellent with the bat in his 100th game. When you set a lot of plans and when everyone comes in and executes that it becomes easier for me. Everyone played their role well and credit to the guys for that.
Rovman Powell | Player of the Match: Pleased, it was difficult at the start but I just kept believing that if I get a good boundary, I can turn it around. Not easy for the guys to come in and start hitting, so we needed to take it deep. We needed to maximize there and the skipper was there till the end.
Litton Das | Bangladesh skipper: They batted really well in the first 10 overs. The wicket was on the slower side and if we had taken early wickets, they would have been under pressure. We needed to execute our slog overs a bit better and that is the main thing we will focus going into the next game. The way Shamim batted was a bit disappointing, he needed to take responsibility at that stage. We bowled really well whole match except for the last over. They (West Indies) took some really good catches as well.
21:45 local, 15:45 GMT, 21:15 IST: Classic case of losing too many wickets too early for Bangladesh. At the halfway stage, former skipper Powell felt that they were probably 10-15 short and highlighted the need to have a good powerplay with the ball. The bowlers did exactly that. After conceding 16 off the first 7 deliveries, West Indies removed Bangladesh's 4 of Bangladesh's top 5 in the next 25 balls. Towhid tried to rebuild, but he too succumbed to the pressure of required rate after the 10th over mark. There was a moment of belief when the hosts scored 31 runs off 2 overs (14 & 15), but all the hopes came crashing down as Holder accounted for the key wicket of Tanzim in the 16th over. There was dew on offer and Bangladesh will regret not having wickets in the bank for slog overs. West Indies were really good in the field, and their bowlers put up a disciplined effort to help their side take the lead in the series. Stick around for the post-match reactions...

Shepherd to Taskin Ahmed, out Hit Wkt!! Oh dear! He nails this full delivery for a maximum over mid-wicket, but in the process of hitting that six - he went a bit too deep inside the crease and disturbed the stumps with his boot. A bail comes off as soon as he finished playing that shot. Not the ideal way to get out, but it is an ideal start to the series for the West Indies. They win by 16 runs and go 1-0 up in the series.
