The celebrations will undoubtedly go long into the night today in the West Indies camp. They rallied under their skipper's vision and with a lot of help from their latest sensation, Shamar Joseph, they trounced Australia in Australia - a feat that few teams can boast of having done in recent times. And as we look ahead, we've got a limited-overs series coming up between these two sides. That's 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is coming up so lots to look forward to once you've gotten over this absolute humdinger. Pat Cummins | Australia captain: Disappointment after the loss but it was a fantastic match, a fantastic series. The way Shamar bowled was right up there, unfortunately we weren’t good enough. We were pretty confident coming in today. Think we did well yesterday to restrict them to a 216-run target, thought we had a chance. Smith was fantastic, almost dragged us over the line. It’s been brilliant, same bowling group for five Test matches in the summer is a big effort. Yesterday it was 37 degrees and 90% humidity but the guys were still charging in, so a big effort. I think we’ve all played enough to know this game humbles you quickly, as soon as you think you’re on top of the world, it pulls you down and you start from zero, I think the West Indies played brilliantly. They played really well, 1-1 is probably a pretty fair result for the series. Good thing is there’s always another game around the corner, any away tour is going to be difficult but we’re looking forward to it (tour to New Zealand).

Kraigg Brathwaite | West Indies captain: I love it (day-night Test), we won a Test match in Australia so it’s amazing. Means a lot for us, been a number of years since we won a Test match here. But for me, this is the beginning. We should keep doing this. I must say we had two words that inspired us in this Test match, Mr. Rodney Hogg said that we were pathetic and hopeless. That was our inspiration. We wanted to show the world we're not pathetic. And I must ask him, are these muscles big enough for him (Shows his biceps). I wanted to show the world what we’re made of. The doctor told me that Shamar could do it and I had to back him. He’s a superstar. I know he’ll do great things for the West Indies in the future. Just his belief is incredible, he told me that he won’t stop bowling till we win it. Very proud of the guys, they showed a lot of fire and heart, especially after the first Test. Very nice to see how they put in a fight, especially the batters. We can only learn from this win. I believe the more the better, that’s how we learn. I would love more Test cricket for sure.

Shamar Joseph | Player of the Match and the Series: It is actually amazing for me , you know, I just want to turn this way to give a shout out to my teammates and the management staff for great words of encouragement. Having a bruised toe to bowl with, but I just go through the phase and pain, knowing that I need to do this for my team and you know for everyone in my country and the Caribbean. Came down to the crowd, to keep pushing us and actually believing us that we can bring the series to 1-1, thank you guys so much. Where’s Dr. Byom? (Chuckles). He called me this morning and I was in my bed, then after 11, I was sleeping at 12:15 so he asked me how I was feeling, I said not well, feeling pain and all these things and he said come to the ground, I have a reason. I don’t know if it was for this reason or not but it was for a good reason, to win the Test match for your team. A shout out to him for keeping believing in me, he knew what I am capable of. I’m really happy that he got me here and I did really well for my team once again. It was all about getting close, getting to that 5 wickets needed just like 4 more wickets. Having Alzarri backing me, a senior player Kemar Roach, all the senior fast bowlers believed in me, they supported me a lot throughout the game even though I was emotional and I was crying but those were tears of joy, knowing that I’m doing this for my team, those were just tears of joy and happiness. It is just about believing, made a lot of sacrifice to get here, remembering what you did back then and it is just to continue from what happened in the past, so I just stick to my basics and take advice from the seniors and that worked for me well.

Kemar Roach: We knew it was going to take something special. The belief the team had in the dressing room was great, always keeping calm and having fun and then expressing ourselves on the pitch, I think we did a fantastic job and you see the result. I think that's the best winning spell from a bowler from the West Indies I've seen. So I'd say enjoy the moment, more hard work to come, he's done something extremely special for the people of the Caribbean so hold your head up high. I told the bowling group to stay calm, the team that stayed the calmest would win the Test match. And that's exactly what we did. The way we started today morning, we were very consistent with our areas and put the batsmen under pressure. We knew something was special was going to come and that's what Shamar did - one of the best spells I've definitely ever seen. (About winning in Australia after nearly 30 years) We had it in mind for a long time, we brought some good players and then got the job done. As a young group I'm very proud of the guys, the way they've gone out there and expressed themselves. The heart they've showed and the fight, that's all there is and we stayed in the contest.

Joshua Da Silva: Feels phenomenal, words can't describe the feeling. To come to Australia and do this, especially after the first game and last year as well, amazing! (On Shamar Joseph's pace) Yea I was feeling it in the gloves. To come out there, especially after yesterday, he came out there with fight and determination. He had one plan in mind and that was to get wickets and we all believed, we had that self-belief from ourselves, our skipper and our coach. Everyone believed that we can do it and we did. It was a great Test match, the wicket was great, the fans great, we saw a number of people come out. Well to do it at the Gabba, I still have no words really.

Shamar Joseph: Shout out to my teammates for their support. I wasn’t even going to come to the ground today. But thanks to the doctor, he did something to my toe. It was just our positivity, taking wickets after wickets. Sticking to our basics, just stuck to the top of off-stump. I really do, I really feel we have won the series, it’s 1-1 but it feels like we have won it. Tears are coming in my eyes but I already cried when I took the five-wicket haul. Just happy that we win the Test, when we last beat Australia I can't remember but today is a big day for us, I just want us to enjoy, celebrate, and be happy. It's tough but I'm not that tired, because I wanted to do this for my team. I told to my skipper that I will bowl till the end until the last wicket falls. It doesn't matter how my toe is, I'm okay, I did it for him and I'm happy that he is proud of me now.

A truly incredible game of cricket and a massive win for the West Indies in so many ways. Most people had probably written them off even before they'd played their first ball. They were inexperienced and as many as four players were given their caps in the series. They were handed a sound drubbing in Adelaide and no one gave them a chance for the game here at the Gabba, particularly in a day-night fixture which required a lot of application from the batters - something that they had lacked in the previous game. But they came out here with a vision to prove all the critics wrong, it didn't look like they would when they were down 64/5 after electing to bat first but a superb partnership between Kavem Hodge and Joshua Da Silva bailed them out of trouble.Then they came out and bowled brilliantly, at one point they reduced Australia to 24/4 and even a remarkable recovery effort from Khawaja, Carey and Cummins couldn't take Australia into the lead. Perhaps Australia will rue the fact that they declared after losing their 9th wicket in the first innings, had they scored a few more runs there, it might not have come to this. The Windies were written off again when they managed to set that 216-run target but as we just witnessed, that fighting spirit burned bright in them and they achieved, what was for many, the unthinkable.

There's so much to dissect here. Needing 216 for victory, Australia would've absolutely fancied their chances, particularly after the first hour today when both Smith and Green were going so strong. But it was Shamar Joseph, bravely walking back out while wearing a painful injury, that broke things open for the West Indies. He got rid of Green and Head off successive deliveries. And that wasn't it, he returned after the drinks break and accounted for the next four wickets to fall as well. None of Marsh, Carey or Cummins could hold fort and Starc fell after a little cameo all while Smith stood watching at the other end. The first session was extended with the West Indies needing just two wickets but Lyon managed to stick around. Just when it seemed like Australia had regained some control, Alzarri Joseph nicked Lyon off after dropping a return catch just the previous delivery. After that, it really was all down to Steve Smith. He tried, he gave it his best shot and brought the runs required down to single digits but he trusted Hazlewood with facing the last two deliveries off every over and unfortunately, Shamar Joseph was just too good as he ripped the off-stump out.

Unbelievable scenes here in Brisbane and at the centre of it all is Shamar Joseph, what a player he's proven to be in his short career of just two Test matches. He was gone for all money last evening after being struck on the toe, nobody expected him to come out and bowl today let alone bowl his side to a win. A lion-hearted performance from the young man and it'll undoubtedly be remembered for a long long time to come. He ends up with remarkable figures of 7/68 and it's a day the West Indies and their fans will remember for ages to come.
