SUMMARY

Born in Bhavnagar, Saurashtra, Harvik is a wicket-keeper batsman who famously hit the winning runs for India in the 2018 U-19 World Cup final against Australia. His dad had also played cricket at a certain level and was also a wicket-keeper which also propelled Hardik to don the gloves.

At 13, Harvik made heads turn averaging a stupendous 62 in the Vijay Merchant Trophy in his debut season and close to 42 in the next season. But due to the senior boys like Ishan Kishan and Rishab Pant, the youngster missed out on the 2016 U-19 World Cup berth. He remained unfazed about the snub and continued churning runs when it mattered, eventually making his way to the India U-19 squad for the World Cup in New Zealand where he earned praises for his wicket-keeping skills, especially where he emulated MS Dhoni's 'Karate Kick' in trying to intercept a ball behind the stumps.
