SUMMARY

Born January 17, 1908, Blackheath, Kent, Bryan Valentile, played 7 Tests for England from 1933 to 1939. The right-handed batsman enjoyed a superb debut, scoring 136 against India at Mumbai. Strikingly, his Test average of 64.85 is double than that of his first-class average. He was also a safe catcher, whether close to the wicket or by the side of the boundary. Valentine's final Test was the 'Timeless Test' in Durban. After retirement, Valentine served as the President of Kent Cricket Club.

He was gifted in other sports as well. At Repton, Valentine played lawn Tennis, at Cambridge he got a soccer Blue as an atheletic forward and later he became a golfer. He died on February 2, 1983, aged 75.
