SUMMARY

James Sims, who played for Middlesex and England, was a very likeable character, lifting the dressing room with his humor. He was a fine leg-spinner on the field, often hoodwinking the opposition with his well-disguised 'googlies'. Sims was also a handy batsman lower down the order as evidenced by his 4 centuries and 21 fifties at the first-class level.

He played 4 Tests for England, capturing 11 wickets. He was a giant though for Middlesex, taking as many as 1581 first-class wickets - eight times he claimed 100-plus wickets in a season.
