SUMMARY

A genuinely quick bowler hailing from Perth, Chris Matthews' international career was short-lived. The left-arm pacer did start well, impressing one and all in his debut series which happened to be against arch-rivals England. Despite working hard in the couple of matches that he played in, he got dropped and although he returned to the side later on, he got just another game where a wicketless outing sealed his fate as far as international cricket is concerned. After this, his domestic future also got in trouble due to his non-selection but he shifted base to Tasmania where he redeemed his career, being a key figure for the State. After a fairly successful stint, he quit from all forms of the game after the 1994-95 season. Matthews also had a moderate experience in the County circuit where he represented Lancashire.
