SRI LANKA VS ENGLAND - 1st ODI
SL Inngs
Dawson to Pawan Rathnayake, out Caught by Jamie Overton!! Dawson strikes! He has deserved this wicket. Had to wait till his final over but he's got it. Quicker and drifts in, Rathnayake makes room and looks to go inside out over extra cover, but hits it a lot straighter. Overton moves to his left near long-off and takes it calmly. Pawan Rathnayake c Jamie Overton b Dawson 12(14)
Adil Rashid to Janith Liyanage, out Caught&Bowled!! Gone! Rashid breaks the partnership. No fifty for Liyanage. He walks off four short of his landmark. This was the wrong 'un, dragged short and Liyanage did not spot it off the hand, he picks it from the surface and slaps it straight back at Rashid, he has a juggle before clutching on with the help of his body. That was a sharp catch as the ball was travelling but Rashid showed good reflexes, went with both hands and even though the ball popped out, he hangs on. Janith Liyanage c and b Adil Rashid 46(53) [4s-5 6s-2]
Rehan Ahmed to Asalanka, out Caught by Brook!! That's a really unfortunate dismissal. Was a tossed up delivery by Rehan Ahmed and Asalanka went for the sweep. Gets a top edge that flicks the helmet and lobs straight over the keeper's head. Brook who was stationed at leg slip calls for it, settles underneath and takes a safe catch. Asalanka so unlucky. Asalanka c Brook b Rehan Ahmed 17(16) [4s-2]
Adil Rashid to Dhananjaya, out Lbw!! Dhananjaya walks back after playing a rusty knock. Dawson bowled a maiden in the last over and Adil Rashid picks a wicket in this over. Perfect tag-team effort by the two England spinners. Dhananjaya looks to play the lap shot, misses it altogether and gets rapped on the pads. Wasn't a difficult decision for the umpire as it looked plumb. Dhananjaya doesn't bother reviewing it either and Sri Lanka are three down. Dhananjaya lbw b Adil Rashid 10(21) [4s-1]
Adil Rashid to Kamil Mishara, out Bowled!! Oh no! Mishara has been bowled behind his legs. Did he get some bat or glove on that? Nope. It was the googly, floated up outside leg and Mishara sits down to sweep, the ball dips under his bat and spins across to hit the leg-stump. Rashid enjoyed that and has a big smile on his face. Spinners on, squeeze on and both openers back in the hut. Kamil Mishara b Adil Rashid 27(37) [4s-2 6s-1]
Sam Curran to Nissanka, out Caught by Dawson!! Curran strikes! Wicket right after the powerplay. This is a floaty delivery, one of Curran's moon balls which he lobs up teasingly, the ball dips outside off and Nissanka is crouching low, swipes across the line and picks out Dawson at mid-on. He was trying to hit that squarer but no pace meant, he didn't middle it and picked out Dawson. Nissanka c Dawson b Sam Curran 21(30) [4s-2]

Pramod to Jamie Overton, out Caught by Wellalage!! Jamie Overton tries his best, but England fall short by 19 runs. That went right down to the wire. Great contest! But the Lankans hold their nerve in the final moments. A juicy full toss around off, Overton looks to go big and miscues it towards cover where Wellalage completes a safe catch and the full toss is well below his waist, confirm the replays. The Sri Lankan players look at the replays and on confirmation, they start celebrating.. Jamie Overton c Wellalage b Pramod 34(17) [4s-4 6s-2]
Pramod to Dawson, out Caught by Dhananjaya!! That's a terrific catch by DDS. A short and wide ball outside off, Dawson carves it towards backward point and de Silva stationed there takes a fine diving catch to his left. He's a superb fielding and with that wicket, England are nine down. Sri Lanka need only 1 wicket more to go 1-0 up in the series. Dawson c Dhananjaya b Pramod 2(2)
Pramod to Buttler, out Bowled!! The bowler has the last laugh! A slower delivery from round the wicket, Buttler swings early, misses it altogether and the off pole has been rattled. Sri Lanka inch closer to victory with England's most destructive batter back to the pavilion. Buttler b Pramod 19(20) [6s-1]
Vandersay to Rehan Ahmed, out Caught by Wellalage! A superb catch by Wellalage. This was lofted towards wide long-off by Rehan Ahmed and Wellalage took it at the edge of the boundary. He lobs the ball up in the air before overhauling the boundary and comes back in to take it on the second attempt. A brilliant effort and that brings and end to Rehan's cameo. England need 69 runs in 31 balls, with Buttler still out in the middle. Rehan Ahmed c Wellalage b Vandersay 27(21) [4s-5]
Wellalage to Sam Curran, out Caught&Bowled!! Another one bites the dust. This was fraction short and Sam Curran slaps it straight back to the bowler. It spun back in sharply and Sam Curran smashed it powerfully. The bowler takes a good low catch and England are six down. Curran is waiting near the sidelines but replays confirm it was a clean catch. No problem with that. Sri Lanka on top. Buttler's England's last hope. Sam Curran c and b Wellalage 5(9)
Wellalage to Jacob Bethell, out Stumped!! Advances down the wicket and gets beaten as Wellalage goes wide outside off. The keeper is quick to dislodge the bails, and the batter had no chance to getting back in. Jacob Bethell st Kusal Mendis b Wellalage 15(33) [4s-1]
Asalanka to Brook, wide, out Stumped!! Was a loopy off-break by Asalanka and Brook was down the wicket to play it. Gets beaten down the leg-side as the ball spins away and the keeper does well to gather the ball. He takes off the bails in a flash and Brook is clearly outside his crease. The Sri Lankan spinners are choking the England batters. The runs have dried up and they're taking wickets at regular intervals. Brook st Kusal Mendis b Asalanka 6(12)
Dhananjaya to Root, out Lbw!! This is a massive moment in the game. England's best batter is gone. The roar from the crowd tells you how important the wicket is. Excellent call by Sri Lanka to challenge the onfield call. The round the wicket angle works for DDS. He tosses it up, lands in-line with the stumps and beats Root on the sweep, the impact is around leg-stump and ball-tracking shows it to be smashing into leg. England's anchor has been removed. Root lbw b Dhananjaya 61(90) [4s-5]
Vandersay to Duckett, out Lbw!! Vandersay strikes! The partnership is broken and a much needed breakthrough for Sri Lanka. The pair were at ease and runs had started to flow, the only way to stem that was a wicket and Duckett has gifted it to Sri Lanka. He goes for the reverse sweep, misses the in-spinning leg-break and is struck on the back thigh, the impact was in front of off-stump and ball-tracking shows it to be smashing into middle-stump. A fine knock comes to an end.. Duckett lbw b Vandersay 62(76) [4s-5 6s-1]
Asitha Fernando to Crawley, out Caught by Kusal Mendis!! Edged and taken! Full and wide outside off, shaping away slightly, Crawley goes for a drive and the outside edge has been taken by the keeper behind the wickets. Asitha Fernando with the early breakthrough and Crawley doesn't last long. Crawley c Kusal Mendis b Asitha Fernando 6(11) [4s-1]
