IND Inngs
Bumrah to Josh Tongue, out Bowled!! Fifer for the incomparable Bumrah. He waves his finger at the heavens as he seems to thank someone. Siraj is out there mobbing him. Soon the entire team is near him to congratulate. He walks off ball-raised to a standing ovation. What a bowler. No words can do justice to him. This is a fine delivery, short of length and angled in to off, Josh Tongue plays down the wrong line on the back foot defence, misses, the off-stump is pegged back. A fine way to end the innings. India lead by 6. Josh Tongue b Bumrah 11(18) [4s-2]
Bumrah to Woakes, out Bowled!! Knocked him over! Bumrah weaves his magic again! Full and angling into the stumps, nipped back in just a shade and went straight through the gate, Woakes was looking to push it down the ground and left a big gap between bat and pad. It went past the inside edge and the next thing Woakes heard was his stumps being rearranged. Another useful contribution for England though, it's helped them cut down the deficit. Woakes b Bumrah 38(55) [4s-3 6s-2]
Siraj to Brydon Carse, out Bowled!! A look of relief more than anything else on Siraj's face! Amidst all the short-bowling, it's actually the fuller one that brings the wicket. Pitched right up on off-stump, Brydon Carse had moved away very early, gave himself plenty of room, too much room in the end and he had to reach out to try and keep it out. Didn't lay a bat on it in the end and it smashed the base of off-stump. Fairly muted celebrations from India but boy did they need that. Big partnership has been broken. Very handy little knock from Carse. Brydon Carse b Siraj 22(23) [4s-4]
Prasidh to Brook, out Caught by Thakur!! Heartbreak for Brook! He's gone for 99! His luck runs out at the worst possible moment, he cannot believe it, he hangs his head back in agony and covers his face. Banged in short on middle, Brook took it on but wasn't in control. It took the top-edge and flew all the way down to Shardul at long-leg. He didn't quite spot it early but made sure he held on. Brook walks off shaking his head, he gets a standing ovation and manages to raise his bat in acknowledgement. Gut-wrenching moment that, an absolute nightmare for any batter to be dismissed on 99. Credit to the bowler though, that was well thought out again. Brook c Thakur b Prasidh 99(112) [4s-11 6s-2]
Prasidh to Jamie Smith, out Caught by Sai Sudharsan!! Good work by Jadeja at deep mid-wicket and Sai backs him up to complete the job. It's short outside off, Jamie Smith takes on the pull, it is not timed that well, it hits the bat high up and it doesn't fly over the fence, Jadeja is at the edge of the cushions, takes it and realises he is going over, so lobs it back to Sai who is at deep backward square-leg but has come near Jadeja, he takes it and that's a crucial wicket for India just before the 2nd new-ball. Stokes wears a serious expression on his face watching on. The ploy to bowl short has worked. Jamie Smith c Sai Sudharsan b Prasidh 40(52) [4s-5 6s-1]
Siraj to Stokes, out Caught by Pant!! Siraj has got the England captain. He roars and says come onnn! Stokes knows he's played a bad shot. Throws his bat up in disappointment, catches and clutches it between his jaw and chest as he walks back. Silly mid-off on, so that rules out the off-drive for Stokes. Siraj stayed round the wicket and angled this length delivery in, got it to nip away as Stokes wanted to play squarer. Tried to run it towards point. Instead he's found a thick edge through to Pant. Big wicket this as the partnership was growing strong. Stokes c Pant b Siraj 20(52) [4s-3]
Prasidh to Pope, out Caught by Pant!! Edged and taken! This is exactly what India needed, not just the wicket but someone other than Bumrah proving that they can take them as well! Short and wide outside off, Pope's eyes lit up and he slashed hard looking to cut, just a bit of extra bounce and nip meant that it caught a healthy outside edge through to Pant. The centurion departs after adding just 6 runs to his overnight tally. But that was an innings of immense importance for Pope, he'll be disappointed not to get more but also really satisfied with getting a hundred in the first place. Pope c Pant b Prasidh 106(137) [4s-14]
Bumrah to Root, out Caught by Karun Nair!! Poke and an outside edge straight to first slip. That is the 10th time Bumrah has got Root in Tests. Poor shot from Root and he will be livid with himself. Just a back of a length delivery outside off stump, but it's not just another ball because of Bumrah's unique angle. This one seamed away off the pitch with some bounce and forced the edge as Root looked to dab past the cordon. All three wickets to Bumrah. Root c Karun Nair b Bumrah 28(58) [4s-2]
Bumrah to Duckett, out Bowled!! Thick inside-edge and Bumrah makes the breakthrough. He has a smile and a word or two at Duckett who walks off. Full outside off, Duckett gets forward to drive big, it's a thick inside-edge and goes back on to middle-stump. Bumrah was brought on to make the breakthrough and he does exactly that. Duckett was looking good but he has to go now. Duckett b Bumrah 62(94) [4s-9]
Bumrah to Crawley, out Caught by Karun Nair!! That is absolutely unplayable! Call it magic, call it wizardry, call it other wordly because that is simply stunning from Bumrah. Crawley can only put his head down and walk off, nothing he could've done about that, absolutely nothing. Good length delivery angling into middle-leg, hit the deck and straightened considerably, turned him into an S and brushed a bit of the outside edge, then his back thigh and went straight to first slip. The angle meant that Crawley was looking to clip it into the leg-side, was caught in his crease and completely undone. He goes cheaply and India have early success! Crawley c Karun Nair b Bumrah 4(6) [4s-1]
