BANGLADESH VS ZIMBABWE - 1st Test
BAN Inngs
Madhevere to Nahid Rana, out Bowled!! Timbaaaaaaahhhhh! That was a tossed up delivery, landed, turned in and Nahid Rana stayed leg-side of the ball for the ball to go past his outer-edge and slam into the sticks. Fifth wicket for a spinner. The seamers and spinners have shared the ruins. Bangladesh would be gutted. They have been bowled out for 191. Madhevere gets his second wicket off the over to put an end to the innings. Nahid Rana b Madhevere 0(4)
Madhevere to Jaker Ali, out Caught by Ben Curran!! Jaker Ali has run out of patience. That was tossed up at 86.5 kph, outside off, the batter wanted to go across the line but the bowler pulled his length back and the ball went off the outer-edge and went very high. The man at cover steadied himself and took it easily. Zimbabwe need one more to bowl out Bangladesh on day 1. That would be a superb feat. Jaker Ali c Ben Curran b Madhevere 28(59) [4s-6]
Muzarabani to Hasan Mahmud, out Bowled!! That's a cracker of a delivery. Lands, explodes and the ball kisses the top of off. A pacer's delight to watch that. Lovely. The batter looked to defend by staying leg-side of the ball but failed to wood it. Muzarabani has his third. Muzarabani is such a fine and improved bowler. Hasan Mahmud tried hard in that little innings but has been sent back thanks to the best delivery of the innings. Muzarabani was very chuffed after picking that wicket. The ball kissed the top of off and flew over the keeper. Hasan Mahmud b Muzarabani 19(30) [4s-4]
Wellington Masakadza to Taijul Islam, out Caught by Nyasha Mayavo!! Third wicket for Wellington Masakadza! Flatter and shorter down leg, Taijul Islam gets inside the line to help it on its way to fine leg. There's some wood on it and Nyasha Mayavo shows good reflexes. The keeper moves swiftly to hsi right and pouches it with both hands. Taijul Islam c Nyasha Mayavo b Wellington Masakadza 3(19)
Muzarabani to Mehidy Hasan Miraz, out Caught by Nyasha Mayavo!! Mehidy Hasan Miraz is stunned. He just looked at the deck and paused. Then started walking off. He had a pensive look. That was a nasty short ball, Mehidy Hasan Miraz looked to fend it off and gloved it down to the keeper. This time the keeper didn't mess it up, a little leap, a little bit of an appeal and the umpire was convinced. The hosts are in tatters now. The tail is exposed now. Muzarabani is getting the ball to talk and how. He has his second scalp. Mehidy Hasan Miraz c Nyasha Mayavo b Muzarabani 1(4)
Wellington Masakadza to Mominul, out Caught by Madhevere!! Another silly way of throwing a wicket away. Drags one from well outside off and hits it straight to the man at mid-wicket. The bat face closed on impact and the man at mid-wicket took a sharp catch. Wasn't a great ball but Zimbabwe have picked up 5 wickets now. Mominul tried to play an attacking shot but didn't place or time it. Wellington Masakadza continues his magic arm. The hosts in a spot of bother now. Mominul c Madhevere b Wellington Masakadza 56(105) [4s-8 6s-1]
Wellington Masakadza to Mushfiqur, out Caught by Brian Bennett!! Was a short ball, Mushfiqur went back to pull it and found the man at mid-wicket. Mushfiqur has thrown it away here. Not the best of ball, again, Mushfiqur looked to break free but found the able of hands of Brian at mid-wicket. Body blow for Bangladesh as their dependable batter is gone. He is known for long hauls in the middle but perishes to a soft dismissal. The spinner has managed to pick a wicket in his first over. Mushfiqur c Brian Bennett b Wellington Masakadza 4(18)
Muzarabani to Shanto, out Caught by Madhevere!! Has been guided down to the man at point. Poor shot. Was short, extra bounce, the batter slashed at it and sent an easy catch to the man at point. The batter is dejected as that could have been sent anywhere. Blessing strikes for Zimbabwe. The batter had been playing a few attacking shots and has fallen prey to one. Not the best of balls bowled today by the tall pacer but the extra bounce did the job. The batter also didn't keep it down and that plotted his downfall. Third one down and one after a long time for the visitors. The skipper was set to get a big one but he will have to go back. The fielder at point hopped up a little to take it. Was hit firmly but wasn't placed well. Shanto c Madhevere b Muzarabani 40(69) [4s-6]
Nyauchi to Mahmudul Hasan Joy, out Caught by Nyasha Mayavo!! A second wicket for Nyauchi, he's got rid of both openers now, but this was a nothing shot from Mahmudul. On a good length and holding its line outside off, Mahmudul doesn't need to play, but he pokes well away from his body, gets a thin edge and it nicely went through to the keeper. After a barren first half an hour, Zimbabwe have struck twice through their first change bowler. Mahmudul Hasan Joy c Nyasha Mayavo b Nyauchi 14(35) [4s-2]
Nyauchi to Shadman Islam, out Caught by Brian Bennett!! There's the first wicket, Nyauchi hits his stride and is rewarded almost immediately - pitched up in that channel just outside off and the length drew Shadman into the drive, he does so with fairly hard hands, gets a thick outside edge and it carris low to gully, Bennett dives across to his right, gets both hands under and completes a fine catch. They're checking for a clean catch, umpire Kumar Dharmasena has a few looks and he's convinced that it's a neat catch, Shadman has to go and Zimbabwe have their first wicket. Shadman Islam c Brian Bennett b Nyauchi 12(23) [4s-1]
ZIM Inngs
Mehidy Hasan Miraz to Nyauchi, out Caught by Taijul Islam!! Five wickets for Mehidy Hasan Miraz - Bangladesh needed just two balls to end Zimbabwe's innings with the second new ball, tossed up invitingly outside off and Nyauchi couldn't resist himself any further, went for an ugly swipe, ended up slicing it high towards cover. Taijul is under it and he takes it with ease. Nyauchi c Taijul Islam b Mehidy Hasan Miraz 7(18)
Mehidy Hasan Miraz to Muzarabani, out Stumped!! Matter of inches. Muzarabani tried to swipe leg-side, the length was short and the line - wide enough to sneak past the under edge. Muzarabani lost balance trying to force it into the leg-side and his back foot got dragged in the process as well. By the time the stumps lit up, Muzarabani's back foot was on the line and nothing behind. Fair call from the telly umpire. Muzarabani st Jaker Ali b Mehidy Hasan Miraz 17(16) [4s-2 6s-1]
Mehidy Hasan Miraz to Wellington Masakadza, out Caught by Shanto!! One brings two they say. Lovely bowling this from Mehidy. Not too full neither short. Got the ball to spin away from the left-hander and Masakadza's eyes lit up on seeing the width. Went really hard on the drive and ended up chipping it to the right of cover. Shanto dives full length to take a fine low catch. Wellington Masakadza c Shanto b Mehidy Hasan Miraz 6(42)
Mehidy Hasan Miraz to Nyasha Mayavo, out Lbw!! Offbreak from Mehidy Miraz, spins in and keeps low on the stumps. Mayavo went down on knee looking to sweep and played all around it. Missed it due to lack of bounce and was caught in front of middle and leg. Ball tracker suggests three reds in fact. Crashing into top of leg stump. Nyasha Mayavo lbw b Mehidy Hasan Miraz 35(54) [4s-5]
Mehidy Hasan Miraz to Williams, out Caught by Mahmudul Hasan Joy!! Oh dear! Williams has thrown his wicket away and he's put his head down in despair. Totally unncessary and Zimbabwe have lost their sixth wicket. Long-off was in place and he still tried to clear the fielder, came down the pitch, was undone by the drift, went through with the shot, the bat turned on impact and he ended up skewing it high towards long-off - Mahmudual ran in, kept his eyes on the ball and completes a safe catch. Williams c Mahmudul Hasan Joy b Mehidy Hasan Miraz 59(108) [4s-6 6s-2]
Khaled Ahmed to Madhevere, out Bowled!! Chopped on! Khaled breaks the partnership. Madhevere stands there in disappointment. They were looking so good and unperturbed that this has come against the run of play. Back of a length delivery, might have bounced more than Madhevere expected, he tries to dab it into the off-side and gets an inside edge onto off-stump. Khaled has bowled well today without much luck but now he has his name in the wicket column. Madhevere b Khaled Ahmed 24(33) [4s-4]
Nahid Rana to Ervine, out Caught by Jaker Ali!! What an inspired review from Bangladesh! back of length and zips through outside off, catches a faint edge of the bat as Ervine was shouldering arms. Give not out but Bangladesh have reviewed for a caught behind on this one. Snicko picks up the faint edge through to the keeper. Bangladesh have broken through here, it is Nahid Rana once again, with a real effort delivery this time around. Ervine c Jaker Ali b Nahid Rana 8(39) [4s-1]
Hasan Mahmud to Nick Welch, out Bowled!! No doubt about this one and Zimbabwe have lost their third wicket of the morning. A superb inswinger from Mahmud, nips back in shaply from outside off - Welch was pressing forward in defence, brings his bat down at an angle and that created a massive bat-pad gap, big enough for the ball to sneak through and send the off-stump cartwheeling towards the keeper. Nick Welch b Hasan Mahmud 2(12)
Nahid Rana to Brian Bennett, out Caught by Jaker Ali!! Edged and caught! It's that extra pace and bounce of Rana that's led to the undoing of Bennett, wasn't a bad ploy to play the back-foot cut, but he's slightly cramped up for space and gets a thick edge on the flash, straight through to the keeper's gloves. A promising innings has been cut short and the visitors have lost both their openers today. Brian Bennett c Jaker Ali b Nahid Rana 57(64) [4s-10]
Nahid Rana to Ben Curran, out Caught by Mominul!! There's the wicket, Rana's extra pace and bounce doing the trick and Zimbabwe have lost an early wicket on Day 2. Banged in short and it kept climbing onto the left-hander - Curran was caught in an awkward position as he looked to fend it away, the ball caught the glove and lobbed in front of FSL, Mominul diving forward to complete the catch. Ben Curran c Mominul b Nahid Rana 18(55) [4s-2]
