Led by a superb unbeaten 128 from Dhruv Shorey, Vidarbha reached 234/5 at Stumps against Odisha. After finding themselves in deep trouble at 6/3 in the 10th over, Shorey led Vidarbha's fightback and stitched a crucial 141-run stand with Ravikumar Samarth who fell one run short of his half century. Shorey shared another important 83-run stand with Yash Rathod before the latter fell late in the day.

Anustup Majumdar's unbeaten 103 saw Bengal recover after a poor start having opted to bat first against Railways. Down 27/3 in the 27th over, Majumdar's 134-run stand with Shahbaz Ahmed revived Bengal's innings. Another partnership ensued between Majumdar and Sumanta Gupta after Shahbaz fell for 86. The duo took Bengal to 273/5 before close of play.

Centuries from Musheer Khan (112) and Siddesh Lad (100*) meant that Mumbai ended Day 1 in a position of strength at 289/5 against Himachal Pradesh. Musheer Khan, unfazed by the three quick wickets that fell around him, including that of former skipper Ajinkya Rahane (2), shared a brief 38-run stand with his brother Sarfaraz Khan. A big 157-run stand between Musheer and Lad followed as Mumbai recovered from a slow start.

Kanpur's Green Park stadium saw a run-fest unfold on the first day's play between Uttar Pradesh and Nagaland. After opting to bat first, openers Abhishek Goswami and Madhav Kaushik shared a 118-run stand before the former was dismissed for 55. The Nagaland side had to endure a long day in the field as no further wickets fell in the remainder of the day. Kaushik brought up his century early in the third session before Aryan Juyal followed suit soon after meaning the hosts piled on 301/1 by Stumps.

Hanuma Vihari's unbeaten 143 headlined Tripura's batting effort on the first day of their Ranji fixture against Assam at Agartala. Asked to bat first, Tripura lost both their openers with just 34 runs on the board. Vihari stitched an important 68-run stand with Sridam Paul (38) before combining with Sentu Sarkar (94) to add 210 runs for the fourth wicket. They were separated late in the day when Sarkar fell to Ayushman Malakar leaving Tripura on 316/4 at Stumps.

Opting to bat first, Karnataka reached 257/5 at Stumps on Day 1 against Maharashtra at Nasik with skipper Mayank Agarwal's 80 being the standout knock. A 66-run opening stand was brought to an end by Jalaj Saxena who trapped Aneesh KV LBW. Krishnan Shrijith failed to impress and so did Karun Nair, who was bowled for 14 by Ramakrishna Ghosh. Mayank held one end firm and shared a 99-run stand with Smaran Ravichandran before the latter fell for 54. Mayank was the last batter to fall on the first day, out stumped for 80 in the 62nd over.
